Blurb:
From New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Emily Snow: Hollywood starlet Willow Avery is out of rehab, with only one chance left to redeem herself before she’s officially on every director’s blacklist…
…At least, that’s what her parents and her agent are claiming. She doesn’t really give a damn if she never makes another movie—she just wants to get on with her life, get back to her friends, and find her next escape. But Willow is broke. And whether she likes it or not, acting is the only job she knows how to do.
When she accepts the lead in a beach drama, set in Hawaii, Willow meets Cooper, the gorgeous Australian surfer who’s been hired to train her for her new role. With the bluest eyes she’s ever seen and the sexiest accent she’s ever heard, Cooper’s different from the men she’s used to. He doesn’t want to use her. And he refuses to let her fail.
But when an old friend re-enters Willow’s life—a friend whose toxic presence reminds her of the painful memories and deadly habits she’s tried so hard to suppress—Willow will have to choose between the girl she was and the person she’s becoming…or she may lose the man she’s starting to love.
Review
I didn't really know what to expect going into Tidal, but I was pleasantly surprised! Tidal is an excellent New Adult novel that was emotional, edgy, heartfelt, and the romance between Willow and Cooper was great! My favorite novel of Emily Snow's so far! 4 stars
Tidal follows the story of Willow, a young actress who was just recently released from rehab. Her drug problem started because of a secret that she is forced to keep that is consuming her and causing her significant emotional turmoil. Upon release from rehab, she is immediately thrust right back into working, doing a remake of a film called Tidal that her parents signed her up to make without her consent. She wants to refuse starring in this film and focus on getting well, but her parents refuse to let her.
Tidal is a surfing movie, so Willow has to train and learn to surf. This is where she meets Cooper, a professional surfer who owns his own surfing academy, he will also be Willow's coach. Cooper is Australian, charming, has a sexy accent, and hot surfer boy looks. At their initial meeting, there is an instant attraction between the two but Cooper gives Willow attitude. The more time Willow and Cooper spend together the more their feelings develop. Willow is dealing with emotional issues, insecurities, and family problems but she is working really hard at being a better person and staying clean and completing her community service. Cooper also has some issues and secrets he's keeping but he's there for Willow no matter what and together they learn to heal.
“I love you Willow, but I can live without you. I just refuse to.” -Cooper
Tidal deals with many issues young Hollywood actress/actors face. It gives us a realistic look into these serious issues and how their lives can be affected but still manages to make us see that some good can come out of these circumstances.
I definitely recommend you read Tidal, whether your looking for the perfect beach read or just a cute NA romance. I have to mention my favorite part the Epilogue, Emily writes FANTASTIC epilogues. Tidal would be a perfect book to be made into a movie....I'd love to see Cooper and Willow on the big screen!
