Six Naughty Nights by Serenity Woods ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Six Naughty Nights blurb

Six nights to remember, six days to forgive…

Esther is grateful for the strong arms that saved her and her young son from an earthquake. But she wishes their rescuer was someone else. Anyone other than the man who left her pregnant after a holiday fling.

Toby’s carpentry skills take him wherever there’s work, and right now that work is definitely cut out for him. He has to get over the shock that the little boy in his arms is his own son—and convince Esther that he’s always regretted walking away from her.

Esther can’t bring herself to deny Toby his right to get to know Charlie. Besides, with her own home flattened, she has nowhere to go but with him to his apartment…where she discovers a sexy role-playing card game tucked in his suitcase.

When Toby invites her to accompany him to the Northland to attend his best friend’s wedding, the opportunity to explore their still-simmering attraction is too tempting to resist. As the steamy scenarios heat up, they start to realize this is more than a game. But Esther’s hiding a secret that could cause as much devastation as the earthquake...

Excerpt:

He pulled her hard against him and crushed his mouth to hers. The full force of his passion washed over her, and she gasped. He took the opportunity of her open mouth to deepen the kiss, and she sighed as his tongue stroked hers, warm and inviting. He slid his hands up her ribcage over the tight dress, brushing her breasts, and then pulled back.

“I’m sure you look delightful in this pretty bra,” he murmured. “But I’d rather feel the real you. Can you do that miraculous trick girls do and take it off under your dress?”

“Are you sure?” Nerves filtered through her again. “It kind of props up everything that’s beginning to head south.” He just raised an eyebrow, however, and she cursed beneath her breath, trying to remind herself that she was supposed to be a slinky call girl. Slinky call girls didn’t talk about baby tummies and sagging breasts. “Sorry.”

First she took out the check he’d given her from her bra and popped it into the purse she’d left on the table. “Don’t want to lose that.” She reached behind and unclipped the bra, drew the straps down her arms beneath the sleeves of the dress, then pulled the garment out and tossed it onto the table. She glanced down. The dress was really more of a long, tight tube with small sleeves, and it clung to every part of her body, leaving absolutely nothing to the imagination. Her nipples stood out like buttons through the fabric, and her breasts looked huge.

“Wow.” Toby’s eyes gleamed. “You have an absolutely fantastic figure.”

Warmth spread through her at his admiration. “Thank you.”

“You’ve lost some weight.”

“Breastfeeding did that.” The words were out before she could stop them, and she bit her lip. Could she think of any more ways to turn him off?

But he didn’t look turned off. He ran his hands up her body to cup her breasts. “You’re so soft.”

“You’re not,” she said breathlessly as he pulled her to him, his erection obvious even through the jeans.

“Is that any surprise while you’re in my arms, so sensual and womanly?” He moved his large, warm hands over her, making her quiver as he ran his fingers up her back, then brought them around to cup her breasts again. He brushed his thumbs over her nipples, murmuring his approval as her eyes fluttered shut. “You smell fantastic,” he said. He nuzzled her neck and ear, and she shivered.

She kissed him again, holding his face with both hands as she delved her tongue hungrily into his mouth. He tasted divine. It had been so long since she’d kissed anyone—since she’d kissed him, in fact. How had she lived without this for so long?

He was coaxing her body awake, stirring long-forgotten sensations, and an ache grew between her thighs. Her nipples tightened in response to his touch, and she arched her back to push them into his gentle hands. He groaned.

Her fingers itched to touch his skin, so she began to undo the buttons of his shirt, gradually revealing his wide, bronzed chest, shaped with firm muscles. He went to slip the shirt off, but she shook her head. “No,” she whispered, “keep your fuck-me shirt on.”

His eyes widened with amusement. “My what?”

“You heard me. That shirt wants only one thing. You look so damn sexy dressed like that.”

He grinned. “Fine.” He held the bottom of her dress. “But I want you naked.”

Instinctively, she grasped his wrists, stopping him. A skintight dress was one thing. Being completely naked and not in utter darkness was another.

He wrested his hands free, and gently but firmly moved hers away. “My check is now in your purse,” he reminded her. “I seem to remember offering you an amount that would cover pretty much whatever I wanted.” He let go of her hands and held the hem of the dress again. “Arms up.” His voice was firm.

Her cheeks grew warm at the desire in his eyes. Closing her own, she lifted her arms.

He peeled the dress up her body and over her head. The fabric whispered to the floor. Fighting the urge to cover herself, she stood for a moment biting her lip. Even though her eyes were shut, she was sure she could feel his gaze burning through her.

Then his hand cupped her cheek, and she opened her eyes to see him smiling. “Hey, beautiful,” he said.

She looked down at herself, finding it difficult to see anything but the stretch marks and the way her muscles had loosened since childbirth. “You want your money back?”

In reply, he kissed her.

Hell's Hollow by Summer Stone Blog Tour and Giveaway

Blurb

When Seraphina was younger, she healed her best friend's injured hand. Terrified by the inexplicable cure, the girl shunned her. From that day on, Seraphina found herself without friends, a freak and an oddity. And so she obeyed her mother’s rule to refrain from using her innate ability, heeded her mother's warning that its use could land her in the local mental health facility alongside her aunt and grandmother.

But when sixteen-year-old Seraphina finds a mysterious, wounded boy hiding in the hollow in the woods behind her house, she can't hold out against the overpowering urge to help him. She is drawn to him each night, and as they come to know one another, their irresistible attraction blooms.

She longs to uncover his secrets — where he comes from and why he's hiding and how he came to be so wounded — and to share her own, though she knows it's forbidden. And while her healing touch seems to be helping him, it's hurting her. When the symptoms of psychosis — experienced by the women in her bloodline who used their powers — begin to plague Seraphina, she is faced with the unbearable choice of saving her sanity or the boy she’s come to love.

Excerpt

“I’m not afraid,” he said. “I’m only afraid of hurting you.”

My heartbeat sped up. “You can’t,” I replied. “Just sit here beside me.”

“If it doesn’t work, don’t be disappointed,” he said, tugging at his jeans.

“It’s okay,” I said, thinking he was the one that was worried it wouldn’t work. “I’m nervous, too. We won’t know until we try.” It had been a long time since I’d healed a person. I imagined roots growing down from my body, intertwining with the roots of the sequoia for strength. “Okay,” I said, “here we go.”

Our eyes met. Heat pulsed between us. I put my hands on his knees — they were solid, he had to be real. I dropped my shield. At once the power of The Hollow smashed into me along with the pain of Zach’s wounds.

The feeling of damage overwhelmed me. So much damage. The Hollow poured into the deadened, wounded areas. But it was as if they were so starved for healing they pulled me in along with them. And inside there, below the damage raged a raw, rancid pain — as if his initial wounds had been reopened. They burned like nothing I’d ever imagined. It shocked me, like lightning strikes from within. I needed to pull away. It was too much. I couldn’t bear it. I was terrified I’d kill him. But I didn’t know how to pull back, how to make it stop.

And there was this magnetism between us that held me to him. I couldn’t let go. I couldn’t breathe. I reared back, pulling The Hollow into myself. Zach’s pain was so huge, I couldn’t hold it. My head felt like it would split open. I lost all sense of my own body as I fell into the raging chasm.

This is a cute, and quick paranormal story! This book started out a bit slow and took awhile for me to get into, but the ending added a cuteness factor to the whole story that I absolutely adored. I loved reading about Seraphina's struggles and choices throughout the book and watching her character evolve. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be trapped with a secret that could literally suck the life out of you and/or possibly make you crazy. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, cute, fun read.

4.5 PERFECT STARS

Where to begin with this Perpetual Quest of questionable decisions and love after loss.....

Well, this story is about picking up the pieces when a loved one suddenly is ripped from you. Hating yourself for things you should have said and regretting things you shouldn't have said. This story was an emotional ride on trying to cope and continue on with life after a loved one dies. The story was more than just Nicole coping with the death of her husband Ryan, "The Golden Child", its also about Ryan's lies, deceit and betrayal. When Nicole and her son decides to move back to Jefferson Point to be close to Ryan's family, this is where the story begins. Her homecoming reopens old wounds, as Ryan's family and friends struggle to adapt to life without his dynamic presence.

There was so much going on in this book. There was a whole cast of characters with so much story to tell. I am kinda torn because I truly loved this story but I felt as though the authors were trying to write about too many people. Don't get me wrong, the book was awesome, I guess I would have preferred that they focused on Nicole's story in more depth but injecting the other characters through the story. As soon as I was connecting with a character, the chapter ended then another began with another character's life. Maybe, I have been reading so many books with series but the authors have an opportunity for more books since they still have so much more fleshing out of the cast of characters.

The Perpetual Quest for a Perfect Life is totally a heart warming book worth reading. I hope there will be more books to come.

*This review was done by Kim, who is part of our guest reviewing team*

Wow, for starters, this was a well defined story from several characters point of view. After the Prologue, I just fell apart. The Prologue was the beginning of total heartache, secrets and lies. The beginning of a story that makes any person question the life they are living and if they are living it to the fullest. Live your life now because you don't know what life will bring you tomorrow.
"Moving Forward" is a journey through the death of a loved one and trying to continue coping, living and hoping to feel whole again. Jesika was left to mourn the loss of her husband and keep herself together for her sons sake. She is constantly battling moving forward and letting go. Jesika believed Jake was the only true love she would ever know. That was until Derek walked into her life. Of course Derek is a hottie firefighter who is a drummer in his spare time. YUMMY!

"He has been my refuge, my safe harbor, my potter and so much more."

This story has a cast of characters that are well defined and they lead us through many twist and turns that has heads spinning. Secrets and lies that are revealed has Jesika wondering who her dead husband was and if what they had was real.

Of course no story is complete without a BFF! And Mallory is the best there is. She brings so much entertainment and fun to this story. And the end just leads us to the continuation into the next book about Mallory...... I can't wait.....DRAMA! DRAMA! DRAMA!

The only thing I do wish was that there had been a little more about Jake. But other than that, this book is a MUST READ!

Selling Out by Amber Lin ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Blurb

Shelly Laurent escapes her life as a high-class escort, but against her better judgment she takes the scared young Ella with her. Framed for murder by her pimp and his dirty cops in retaliation, Shelly turns to the one man who could be her salvation: Detective Luke Cameron. She doesn’t know if she can trust him or if he’s just a mirage, but it's time for her to take a stand. Just one shot, make it count, she’ll fight Ella’s demons—and face her own.

Shelly throws light on the shadows of Chicago’s underworld, challenging everything she knew and the man she’s come to love. Together, a prostitute and a cop fight for truth stronger than secrets, hope deeper than deception, and a bond more enduring than betrayal.

SELLING OUT EXCERPT

“Shh,” I murmured, stroking his back.

“Shelly, goddammit.”

But his protests fell away as I pressed my breasts to his arm and my tongue to his ear. His harsh inhalation sounded broken, shattered, or maybe that was me.

I tasted salt and man, earth and spring. Slow licks alongside his lobe and upward, more suggestive than sensation, but for a man like this, anticipation would be everything. Or so I had imagined, all the times I had dreamed of it.

A small sound escaped him, somewhere between a grunt and groan. I took it as encouragement and smoothed my hands along the hard planes of his shoulders, his chest. Not anywhere near the bulge in his jeans, because this wasn’t about pleasure—it was about wanting.

Anything to get closer, I let my knees slide apart around his side, the faint heat of his body a shock to my core. His hands clenched and opened on his knees, and again, the muscles rippled beneath his darkly tanned skin. Was he restraining himself from touching me or pushing me off?

“Baby, no,” he groaned, letting his head fall back onto my shoulder.

No, I would never deserve to have him as more than a sex partner. And he had never fucked me, though I knew he wanted to. Every time he saw me, his eyes would darken and my stomach would bottom out, but we’d never touch. But maybe for one brief inconvenient moment, while the door was open and the young woman beyond it needed help, we could pretend. Maybe it could be enough.
I shut my eyes tightly and pressed a kiss to his temple. Pretend, just pretend. I would give him the sex he had craved, and in return, he’d give me memories. It would be a payment, just the same.

“You want this,” I whispered.

He shuddered in my arms; it was like hugging a wild animal, one who could just as easily maul me as cuddle.

“Can I touch you?” he whispered. “Please.”

It unraveled me, that plea. As if he understood that a little bit of my soul slipped away every time someone touched me. As if he would cherish the part I gave him.

I scrambled away from him as if burned, breathing hard. No.

No one understood, which was exactly the way I liked it. I ran a shaking hand over my face to smooth away the panic.

Sure, he knew the score better than most people. He had worked the beat as a patrol cop and then as a detective. Life as a high-priced escort wasn’t glamorous; it was sweat and blood sprinkled with glitter. But he didn’t know the full extent, and I prayed he never would. Henri didn’t sell bodies; he gutted them.

I panted against the headboard, unable to walk away but unwilling to beg. Luke remained carved in stone where I’d left him sitting on the edge of the bed. The air pulsed with doubt and longing—with sex.

“I want it to be real between us.” He spoke low and hoarse.

A quiet sound escaped me. Every caress, every pinch. Every slur ever spoken. “It’s always real. That’s the problem, Luke. It’s always too damn real.”

He hung his head, and I thought for a moment I heard him say I know, but the moment slipped away, the sweet intimacy sailed away like clouds on the horizon—never really mine.

Review

*This review was done by Jessie, one of our lovely guest reviewers*

This was a story that I didn’t expect at all. I enjoyed reading every page. 4 stars

Shelly is a prostitute that wants to get out & change her life. I admired her strength, determination & her wanting what is normal. I loved her spunky side, too. The things that come out of her mouth. Is this a protective measure on her part? She’s in this business because of her father & I felt an immediate dislike for this monster while not actually having to meet him in this book. Or does he make an appearance? Shelly is a fighter & doesn’t back down in any situation. She wants things to be better & going against her pimp, Henri, is dangerous & possibly deadly. Does that stop her? No, it doesn’t.

Luke is a Chicago PD detective that she meets & has an attraction to. But doesn’t quite understand why. She also was an informant for him during a sting op. Shelly tries her hardest to have him want her the way every other man does, but he fights it. This makes her feel unworthy, dirty & her self esteem is low. Like I said, she’s determined & doesn’t give up. This book gave me a little insight into what life is like “on the streets” for these women in this profession. It is suspenseful, full of twists & turns & the characters bearing their souls like an open wound. I wasn’t sure how this book was going to end, but I was very satisfied.

Review

WOW! This is one of those books I normally would have to get my head together before writing the review but since I don't have time for that I am just going to dive right in.  I read this book in one day.  It consumed my thoughts and the whole time I was at work all I could think about was getting back to this book. I had a gnawing ache in my stomach, I felt every word, I knew that something big was coming and I feel like I just got hit by a freight train! The secret that I think I know has not been revealed yet, and the one that was revealed was just OMG the ultimate twist!!!!! I'm still reeling from the Epilogue! 4 stars

The book starts of with us meeting Dahlia. She is in college, and she has been with her boyfriend Ben since they were kids. She doesn't even remember when they fell in love, she just knows that she is and it just happened through their friendship. Her best-friend Aerie takes her to a local bar to see a band - The Wilde ones. This is where she meets River and feels an intense connection so strong that she knows if she doesn't leave the bar immediately she is done for. Rather than risk her and Ben's relationship being over, she walks out of the bar and away from River for good. Five years later fate intervenes and Dahlia and River are given the opportunity to reconnect and that same undeniable magnetic pull is there.  River is amazing.....he's sweet, freaking sexy, and a rock star. The chemistry between him and Dahlia is smoldering! So much has happened since there initial meeting.......so much sorrow, grief, and tragedy.  Can Dahlia and River find true happiness together or will forces beyond their control step in their way?

“When our eyes connected it felt like minutes, in reality it was mere seconds. At that moment, something happened inside of me. The connection was like nothing I’d ever felt before. It was an electric pull that willed me in and forced me to keep looking at him….could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else?”

Connected is a great debut novel for Kim.....a story about living life after loss, taking second chances, surviving, loving, connecting.  The ending was absolutely, positively amazing! I did not see it coming, and I was guessing all the way to the end! I have a feeling there are still so many secrets that weren't revealed to us in Connected and I'm sure there are many more secrets we will find out in Torn.....really looking forward to reading more by Kim Karr!

This is the second book in the Sloan brothers series and WOW! Loved this book.....going into it I wasn't sure how I would feel about Emilia but this is a book to go on my list of favorite books ever, books I would re-read time and time again. Oh and Macsen....good god! Where to even begin with him....he is intense, deep sexy, freaking yummylicious and the scenes between him and Emilia where at times emotional, and others times just smoking HOT!

Emilia Wentworth's one focus in life is getting revenge on the people who have wronged and played a part in hurting her sister. Anger consumes her life so she makes a burn list to get back at these people. One by one, she crosses names off her burn list, making people pay, until she is down to the last one, the one she wants to pay the most. She hopes that getting revenge on him will bring peace to her life. Funny thing is Macsen is not what Emilia expected him to be....he is funny, sweet, smart, tender and HOT. The more time she spends with him, she finds herself thinking about and falling for the boy she is supposed to despise. She is mortified for having these feelings, after all he played a part in destroying her family. The more time she spends around him, she questions whether Mascen is even capable of doing the things he's accused of. Can Mascen get Emilia to let down her guard...to forget the pain and let go of the anger? How will Mascen feel when he finds out the truth about who Emilia really is? You must read the book to find out!

"You can't heal a heart that's been fragmented. But my wounds were closing. Stitch by stitch, I was starting to feel again. I can't undo the past and stop everything that has happened. However, I can try to take a tiny step forward."

I highly recommend you read this book and this series.  Calia is a writer that has a way of sucking you right into her stories....consuming you...making you feel every single emotion as if you were living them. Can't wait to read the next book in the Sloan brothers series!

Excerpt

“If you were bold...” Macsen shifts closer and I clinch the book tightly in my hands. “What would you do?”

My heart picks up speed as I open my mouth. I hesitate for a second, afraid to say what I feel. But when will this opportunity ever come again? Probably never. But it doesn’t make it any easier.

Tell him or don’t. Tell him or don’t. I weigh the pros and cons in my head as I stare at him. After a few seconds pass between us, I let out a shaky breath.

“I’d lean forward...” I whisper.

His face moves closer and I watch his green eyes become hooded with lust. “And what?”

I lean an inch closer. “I would kiss you.”

Macsen’s eyes slam shut and the rejection I feel stings. I start to rise and when he opens his eyes back up. His hands gently hold my own to the floor and then his mouth is on mine. I want to shiver from how lightly his lips move against mine, how smooth they feel. They move coaxingly, with soft nips. My lips stay shut. I’m enjoying every single trick of his to get me to open up my mouth to him.

My breathing is shallow as I pull away. His hands move away as he settles onto the floor, his legs wide apart. My nose brushes against his as I stare into his eyes. His pulse is pounding at the base of his throat. With my palms flat on the floor, I lean closer. My body is between his spread legs. Even though he’s silent, his chest rises and falls like he has just stopped running. I know he wants me. I shut my brain down, ignore what a mistake this is, and lean forward and kiss the side of his neck. He jumps slightly and I lick his skin.

I hear him groan and move my lips upward.

A kiss cannot replace the past. But with every kiss to his skin, my hurt becomes a distant memory. All my pain is gone and all I can feel is the blood roaring throughout my body. My lips tingle as I drag them across his jaw. When I reach his lips, I stop, and hover. I can only go so far before it’s his turn to take control.

My eyes briefly flick down to his arms. He’s resting his weight on his palms, but I watch his arms shake. He’s losing his calm demeanor. The longer our lips are apart, the more the air snaps around us. My breathing is harsh as I wait patiently. When Macsen still hasn’t moved, I start to back away.

“Don’t,” he says roughly and reaches out. Easily, his hands span my waist and he drags me onto his lap.

I grip his forearms tightly as my body sinks closer and my thighs hug his hips. Against the juncture of my thighs, I can feel how hard he is. I shift once and my thighs start to shake. He only pauses for a second, looking at me with such intensity, I’m waiting for my skin to melt. When his lips meet mine, there’s more urgency to our kiss. My nails dig into his flesh as he licks the seam of my lips and nips at my bottom lip.

I want to pretend, just for a few hours, that I’m someone filled with forgiveness. No scars on my past. No cuts on my emotions. I want to be a whole person, not someone sewn back together. And I feel put together with Macsen’s arms banded tightly around me.

I open my mouth and his tongue slips in. I gasp loudly in shock at how good this feels. Goosebumps break out across my skin, and I move my tongue against his cautiously. My revenge runs in the opposite direction the longer his mouth is on mine.

Slowly, I start to relax my body. I practically sigh when Macsen’s hands move from my hips and toward my face. He bites lightly on my bottom lip and soothes the burn with his tongue. Macsen angles my head and explores my mouth. I thrust my tongue against his and fist my hands into his hair. The grip on my face tightens before his hands drift away, traveling down my body.

His fingers drift over my breast and through my bra, my nipples tighten. I want him to keep touching me there, but his hands move across my stomach and slip underneath my shirt.

How can I be doing this? None of this is part of the plan. My mind torments me and tries to pull me back to reality, but Macsen is my weakness. I can’t stop. My fingers drag up his arm, clinching his biceps. His hands explore my stomach and I breathe heavily, pulling away from his mouth and leaning my head on his shoulder. Those large hands inch closer to the lace of my bra and the two of us are breathing hard. His fingers veer around my chest and I feel him slip a finger underneath the strap of my bra. And even with the barrier of my shirt, he drags it down my shoulder and down my arm.

There’s a torturous second where he does nothing and I think I stop breathing.

Against his neck, against my will, I murmur, “More.”

My brain has shut down and now my lust is talking. It’s a greedy feeling because all I can think about is having his hands all over me.

Blurb

Bailey Gray is tired of her perfectly planned life. Everything about her life has been organized and lived out to the expectations set of her parents. She is the class valedictorian, has perfect grades, the perfect friends, a perfect boyfriend, basically perfect life...or so everyone thought. That's when she realizes the path planned isn't always the path chosen.
On graduation day she makes a decision. One that changes everything she thought she knew about her intended future.
On a whim, she runs away with the town rebel, Dylan Wade, in search of the unknown.
Dylan Wade isn't looking to run away from anything.
He knows what he wants as he's been waiting on it for years.
On a journey to find the unknown, they discover a friendship they once knew along the open highway and have not a care in the world. Between the yellow and white lines of the heated summer asphalt, a spark draws them together as Dylan's past and Bailey future try to ripe them apart.
Could it be that Dylan and his GTO are exactly what her perfectly planned life needs?

Review

As soon as this book came out I was super excited to read it and jumping all over the place to sign up for the blog tour.  I mean come on.....this is the same woman who gave us Jameson Riley and I could not wait to read another one of Shey's books! Let me tell you, I was so not disappointed when Shey brought Dylan Wade into my life! It does not matter if Shey is writing about racing or an amazing journey about discovering yourself and finding true love, bottom line is she can write! Her ability to make you connect to the characters and feel their emotions is amazing. 4.5 stars.

Bailey is not happy with her perfect life.  She lives her life the way everyone wants her too - perfect boyfriend, perfect grades, perfect looks but she is unhappy.  On a whim at graduation she takes off with her childhood best friend Dylan. She hasn't spoken to in years but has silently watched him from afar and he has always held a piece of her heart.  Dylan, being the town rebel is running from his own demons. He has been silently waiting on Bailey to come back in to his life. They embark on a summer journey....a road trip bucket list where they find comfort in each other, love, and friendship. The question is can these two run away and escape the past or will the past come looking for them?

“It was a summer of tears, laughter, colors that bled lies and denied the truth. It was the kind of love that knew no bounds, tangled emotions that were strong.”

I adored this book.  Shey is a writer that I will look for every single one of her books to release, and buy and read every one.  Waiting For You is a beautiful emotional story about true love, loss, and self-discovery. If you haven't read Waiting For You yet, you must! Then go back and purchase Shey's other books and read them too, you will not regret it!

Always There by Carol Ann Albright-Eastman ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Blurb:

For readers who loved The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day, or The Shack.

“People walked up the front steps of the funeral home, preparing themselves to see the grieving orphaned children of the woman who passed, but what did they find instead? The youngest orphaned child was snacking on a Quarter Pounder with cheese, drinking a medium Diet Coke, and laughing in a chair with her friends.”

In this fresh, poignant novel, Always There, Shelby Lynn LeeMaster grapples with her recent “orphaned” life and how to let down her guard to fully experience true love, allowing it in to her heart without fear. The mother, Betheny LeeMaster, struggles with dying before she could teach and guide her children into adulthood. The daughter cannot break from her own fears, while the mother cannot forgive herself for leaving her children too soon. The different narrators, the mother in Heaven and the daughter on Earth, tell their stories in alternating chapters. Can the two women reconcile their fears and remorse being worlds and lifetimes apart?

Eastman’s honesty explores the tragic ending to a mother-daughter relationship, revealing the pain a motherless daughter experiences. The two vantage points allow the reader to find a connection with the mother and/or the daughter, personalizing the loss that a dying mother and grieving daughter often face. The novel portrays the truth behind the death of a loved one, while glorifying the mystery of Heaven, proving that love does not die when a person does. The channels of love are still open, going in both directions. Love goes on when life does not. The novel bridges the tragic with the comedic, giving audiences a lighter, more enjoyable, sentimental read. You will laugh while you cry, and cry while you laugh, but in the end, you’ll hug your loved ones for dear life.

Eastman is a motherless and fatherless daughter, but a day doesn’t go by that she doesn’t think of them

Shattered Grace by K. Anne Raines ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Shattered Grace Blurb:

Seventeen-year-old Grace grows up knowing she’s different, but she always attributed it to a mother who didn’t want her, a father who abandoned her, and a curse that sets her apart. Despite those struggles, her grandfather remained her rock and confidant. Her life irrevocably shatters the day her grandfather dies.
The day of his funeral sets off a chain of events, making Grace question everything she’s ever known to be true, and as a result, who she can truly trust. She inherits his house, part of his money, his Guardian, and something that ties them together. Just before Grace’s 18th birthday, she is thrust into a world she couldn’t fathom existed. She’s been destined for greatness, but at what cost? With eyes now open, she must decide to either be Chosen, or watch those around her suffer the consequences.
Torn between the man who’s come to protect her, and the one sent to destroy her, she teeters on the edge of contemplation…
What does it mean for those she loves….and the rest of mankind?

Excerpt

As they continued talking, electrically charged molecules cavorted between them, pulling their bodies closer together. Grace was hyperaware of the slight movement he made, and where his body touched hers with every word. Peeking at him from under her lashes, she licked her bottom lip and watched his hands as they moved absentmindedly on his knees, wondering what they’d feel like against her face, tangled in her hair. How would it feel to be wrapped in his arms, or to snuggle into the crook of his neck? How would his lips feel pressed against hers, or… Her head snapped down to peer in her cup. She wondered if something had been slipped into her drink. It looked empty, so she shook it for good measure. Yep, it was almost gone. Three down.

The phone in her pocket buzzed against both their legs. Her hands grabbed for it while she sent Darius an apologetic look. She felt like tossing the phone in the fire, but peeked at the backlit screen anyway.

Quentin: DON’T YOU THINK YOU’VE HAD ENOUGH?
With her iPhone cupped in both hands, she stared across the flames at the others sitting around, noticing Brian and Leah. No, she decided, shaking her head. She certainly didn’t think so.

Grace: Not at all!

Irritated he was playing Guardian/father again, she continued.

Grace: I have a DD if I can’t drive. A GA if im in dnger & a ST sittin b-side me.

She giggled a little at the last part. Darius sat silently next to her, minding his own business. Her phone buzzed again seconds later.

Quentin: What’s an ST?

Grace: A sure thing.
Quentin: NOT FUNNY.
Grace: Who said im kidding?

Review

*This review was done by our lovely guest reviewer Kim*

First of all this was my first paranormal and what a good one to start with. K. Anne Raines did a SUPERB job in never losing me during this story. Yes the story was quite lengthy but it was well worth it. I will skip the synopsis of the story since you can read about it already. The characters were so well defined and the dialog between them were so well written. I never felt that at anytime during this story that the author rushed through any part. Maybe that is why I really got into the story. This book contained every emotion loss, love, hate, anger, friendship, etc........4 stars!

AWESOME JOB to K. Ann Raines......Can't wait for the next book.....

Blurb

Can love survive when life gets Reckless?

When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other survive the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they've formed, the new family they've found, and the history they've forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band's exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price-but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?

Teaser

With the phone glued to my ear, I got ready for bed. Because I missed him, I
threw on a shirt that I didn’t typically wear. Not because I didn’t like it, but because it
was saturated with Kellan’s scent, and I didn’t want that to fade. Slipping on the black
shirt with the word Douchebags in bright‐white bold letters, I crawled into the bed I
shared with Kellan.

As Kellan gave me the rundown on his schedule, I brought the fabric of my t‐shirt
up to my nose and inhaled the smell of him. It was incredible, manly, yet clean. I still
wasn’t sure what combination of products he used to create that scent, but it was the
most sensuous smell in the world. And I suppose it was possible that it wasn’t a
manufactured scent. Maybe he just naturally smelled amazing; his bare skin was quite
edible after all.

I giggled a little at that thought and Kellan stopped talking. “What are you
doing?” he asked, a clear smile in his voice.

“I just crawled into bed–”

He immediately cut me off. “Are you naked?”

I flushed all over, and felt a stirring in my body by his words alone. I could still
hear faint noises in the background, so I knew Kellan wasn’t by himself. But maybe he
could be…

“No…I’m wearing the shirt you gave me a long time ago. It’s my favorite shirt. I
don’t usually wear it, though.” I closed my eyes as I confessed just how obsessed with
him I was. “It smells like you, and I want it to stay that way.”

Kellan chuckled in a low tone; it ignited the spark of heat in my belly that he’d
stoked earlier. I ran a hand over my body as the ache of loneliness within me grew. I
missed him so much–his touch, his smile, his eyes, his tattoo…his heart. Everything.

“Really?” he asked. “Do I…smell?”

A low, purr‐like sound escaped me. “Yes, you do, and it’s the best smell in the
world. Better than coffee.”

Kellan groaned. “God, Kiera, you’re turning me on.

Brandi's (Spice's) Thoughts

Several Christmas's ago my husband bought me a Kobo ereader and opened up my life to a whole new world of books.  This was the BEST present that anyone has EVER gotten me.  I have always been a reader, always gotten my books from the library or bought paperbacks but this ereader opened my life to a whole new world of Indie of authors I probably would have never had the opportunity to read otherwise. One of the first books that Kobo suggested to me was Thoughtless and I bought it on a whim and OH.MY.GOD! I had never read a book like this and never meet a character like Kellan Kyle....I mean I was reading Danielle Steel and Nicolas Spark books...amazing authors but my world was ROCKED and I was hooked. I will never look back!

This series was the starting point for me, the starting point of my love for Indie authors.  While I anxiously awaited Reckless's release and devoured it immediately, I can't even get my thoughts together for a review because it deeply saddens me to think that it's over.  How do you say goodbye to your first? How do you let go of your #1 book boyfriend? Well, I can't.....this series will always be my #1 favorite of all time and Kellan will always be #1 in my heart. I'm really hoping we get more in the future, maybe will get a Kellan POV or see more about Kellan and Keira's life's together in a spin off about other characters. In the meantime, I will always re-read this series and when someone whether online or in my town asks me what series they should read next my answer will always be.......have you meet Kellan Kyle?
