Stranded With a Billionaire by Jessica Clare ~ Review

Synopsis

The Billionaire Boys Club is a secret society of six men who have vowed success – at any cost. Not all of them are old money, but all of them are incredibly wealthy. They’re just not always as successful when it comes to love…

Billionaire Logan Hawkings needs a vacation.

He’s had a rough time after the death of his father and the betrayal of his fiancée. But with a visit to a recent business acquisition—a private island resort in the Bahamas—he has a chance to mend his broken heart.

When a hurricane blows in, a misplaced passport and a stalled elevator bring Logan together with an unusual woman named Bronte. She’s unlike anyone he’s ever met—down to earth, incredibly sensual, and even quotes Plato.

She also has no clue that he’s rich…

Bronte Dawson, a waitress from the Midwest, is stranded with the hotel’s domineering yet sexy manager Logan. What’s the harm in a little fling when it’s just the two of them, alone in paradise? But after several steamy island nights in Logan’s arms, Bronte’s ready to give her heart—and her body—to the man in charge.

But she soon discovers there’s more to Logan than he’s told her…a billion times more. Now, Bronte’s caught in a whirlwind affair with one of the world’s most powerful men. But can their love endure their differences or will it all just blow over?

Love. Sex. Money. Want more? Look out for the next steamy title in the Billionaire Boys Club series from Jessica Clare, coming from InterMix.

Review

I was intrigued from the title alone.  Why does this not happen to me? I want to be stranded with Logan! This is the first installment of The Billionaire Boys Club series and it is a great start to the series! I was sucked in right from the start of the this story. 4 stars

The story starts exactly as the title says, Bronte a young waitress and Logan the sexy billionaire get stranded on an island during a hurricane.  Bronte mistakes Logan for the manager of the hotel when actually he is the owner and he does not correct her.  Over the next couple of days they experience an "island fling" as Bronte looks at it but Logan has other plans.  When they are rescued and Bronte learns the truth about who Logan is she is furious! Logan is not the man she fell for on the island, in real life he is arrogant, rich and gets what he wants and it turns Bronte off. Bronte still finds him sexy though and can't deny the chemistry between the two of them. Bronte is not like the typical girl Logan is used to dating, she's simple and smart and not after his money.  Making things work now that they are off the island and in real life, is not as easy as it seems and Logan has his work cut out for him if he wants Bronte in his life for good.

Overall, Stranded with a Billionaire was a fun, sexy, romantic read and I can't wait to read more of this series! The author introduces us to Gretchen who is Bronte's strong, independent roommate and Hunter who is Logan's mysterious billionaire friend and their story will be next and I can't wait to see how it plays out! I think Hunter is a billionaire who will have to work hard to earn Gretchen's affections!

Translation of Love by Alice Montalvo Tribue ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Synopsis

Ellie Brooks has spent the past two years of her life building barriers around herself that are guaranteed to keep people out and her demons in. She doesn't want to get close to anyone for fear of being hurt again. When she meets Latin superstar Victor Garza, she is shocked at how quickly he is able to penetrate her armor. She doesn't want to let him in but can't deny the chemistry they have. He has the potential to heal her wounds and open her heart but she isn't sure she can let him. Will love be enough to keep them together or will Ellie's past prove to be too much for the pair to overcome?

Review

I really did not know what to expect going into this story but WOW TOL is a beautiful,  well written, romantic story that sucked me right in and I devoured this book in one sitting.  Hmmmmm....maybe because of VICTOR GARZA a very sweet, hot, alpha male who steams up the pages with Ellie in this story! 4 stars.

Ellie first meets Victor at his book signing where she is there to pick up a book for her niece.  She has no clue who Victor is and she is not looking for love, but can not deny the sparks that are flying between her and this stranger. Victor just happens to be a Latin Superstar and finds it refreshing that Ellie doesn't recognize him and isn't like the typical money hungry women after him and after a second chance encounter in one day Victor believes that it is fate and takes a chance and asks Ellie out.

Ellie has kept herself pretty closed off due to a horrible previous relationship so she guards her heart carefully. It's wonderful to watch Victor wear down Ellie's walls and see their romance blossom. They face many bumps in the road, from people conspiring to keep them apart to Ellie's insecurities but the big question they have to face is if their relationship is worth fighting for? Can Victor get Ellie to trust him and not run as each of these obstacles get in their way?

Translation of Love is such a sweet romance story and I love how I felt like at the end that I wasn't left hanging, I was happy where Ellie and Victor's relationship was, no cliffhanger!  Great debut novel for Alice Montalvo-Tribue and I look forward to reading book #2 in this series about Jordan and Alex.

Naughty Girl by Scarlett Metal ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Blurb:

Alexandra loved the hot sex she experienced as a submissive in the bedroom, but would never give her heart to any man.

After getting hurt by his sub and wife, Paul swore he would never make that kind of commitment to a woman again.

They meet at the club that Alex frequents and quickly become play partners. The sex is amazing, but despite their reservations, they begin to fall for each other. Will they be willing to admit their feelings for each other?

Excerpt

I hated to admit it to myself, but I was looking forward to going to the engagement party with Alex. We hadn’t hung out anywhere except the club, so I couldn’t wait spend time with her in another social setting. In a way, this was a big step for us, almost like our first date.

Alex had been busy all week, helping Stephanie get ready for the party since she was the maid of honor and her best friend. We didn’t get a chance to see much of each other and it surprised me how much I missed her.

The party was being held at a bar down the street from the club and we decided I would meet her at the party since she had to be there early to help set up. I would then take her home after.

I was a little nervous about tonight. I had no problem being with Alex at the club, but for some reason being out in public with her had my stomach tied in knots. The last time I was this scared to be out with a girl, I was in high school. I wasn’t sure if I liked what she was doing to me.

I arrived at the party and quickly scanned the crowd for Alex. I heard laughter coming from the corner and I smiled. I knew that sound anywhere. I headed in the direction of her voice and finally spotted her. I stopped for a minute and to look at her. She looked amazing in her green knee length sundress that brought out the gold flecks in her eyes and white strappy sandals. Her was hair down just the way I liked it with a couple pieces pinned back. It was in that moment I realized I was in love with her.

She caught me looking at her and she smiled questioningly at me as she walked over. She hooked her arm in mine. “Hey you.” I took a deep breath. I had to get myself together.

“Hi yourself. You look gorgeous tonight.” I finally managed to say.

She blushed. Could she be just as nervous as I was? “Thank you.”

She turned her face and kissed me softly on the cheek. I knew for certain in that moment our relationship had changed. I didn’t want her just as a play partner at the club, I wanted to make her mine.

“Let’s get you a drink,” she said with a smile.

The rest of the night was better than I ever imagined it would be. We laughed and danced all night, just like a real couple. The later it got, the more I realized that I had fallen for this blond-haired beauty. . This wasn't just about collaring her, I wanted her to be mine in every sense of the word. I thought about bringing it up after the party, but I wasn’t sure how she felt about me and I didn’t want to ruin the night.

Around midnight, as she was sitting on my lap, she whispered in my ear, “Let’s go.”

I raised an eyebrow at her. “Where? Are you tired? Do you want to go home?”

She bit her lip and shook her head. “Not home...not my home anyway. And no, I’m not tired.”

“Want to come back to my place?” We’d never been to each other’s homes, so I wasn’t sure how she would react to my invitation.

She nodded and looked at me with her hazel eyes. “Yes, please.” I loved her eyes. They were so expressive. They gave her every emotion away. And right now they were saying ‘fuck me, please’.

I ran my hand down her back. “So polite...Good girl.” I helped her off my lap and stood up, offering my hand. “Ok, let’s go.”

Review

To start with, I want to say this book could have been so much more.  The book started off so strong and with so much potential.  Absolutely loved the story and the characters and I was so sucked into the story, but it all felt so rushed, maybe that was just me wanting more. Also, I am not one to complain about errors in a book but I felt this one had so many it was hard to follow at times.  None of this was enough to stop me from reading the story though, and I look forward to reading Scarlett's future books and seeing her growth as an author. 3.5 stars.

So for the storyline, Alex and Paul meet at a BDSM club and immediately are drawn to each other. And of course, Paul is every woman's fantasy tall, gorgeous and sexy.  Alex is a very strong woman who knows what she likes and wants until in walks Paul.  The chemistry between the two is sizzling hot!!  So be prepared to have your panties melt off!

So if you want a quick, sexy, steamy read with some hot BDSM mixed in, this book is for you!

Happy Reading!!!

*Please note the author will be uploading a corrected error free copy of the book this weekend*

Review

*Warning this review is for 18+ and older, Rosa has downright inappropriate thoughts (blaming it on her) and then she tends to encourage Brandi - Oh hell, who am I kidding? They tend to fuel off each other! Read on!

Rosa's Review

Holy mother of it all!!! I'm gonna be honest when Spice let me know she had Rock My Bed I was all hells yeah boy!! And now that I'm done I'm like OMFG I was totally not expecting this! This book was a solid 4.5 stars for me it was better then the first and I love it when follow ups are better. It means the author listened to what we had to say about our dislikes and our likes and put them to good use. And that is exactly what's going on here. Now in the first book we didn't get much sense of who Aubrey was. All we really knew was that she was Lanie's BFF and her and Riff hooked up. Well now that we get to know her I liked her. She doesn't take Riff's shit even though she wants everything he will give her. I liked how she knew she was gonna hook up with him and let him know that okay I want u but don't treat me like a dirty hoe cuz hommie don't play that shit! She spoke her mind and waved her freak flag high and proud. And being married for the last 7 years I know that being completely open about ur freak self is über important. Nough said. What I did not like is that she kept bringing up her past love of bad boys and how she needs to stop getting with them. I get it we all love our bad boys and they all do us wrong. Now is it fair to lump Riff in this category? No but she sort of does and I get it but I don't like it. Now Riff aka Zach is something else entirely!! From the first encounter he had with Aubrey I was hooked, like a crackhead! I was a little peeved about him trying to give Lanie a golden ticket but I guess it was just the manwhore in him. But holy hell is he a good fictional lay!! I had to cross my legs several times during this book. He has a very naughty mouth on him and dear god did I love it. Every time he opened his mouth to tell Aubrey about what he wanted to do to her well lets just say he wasn't saying Aubrey's name in my head. And of course he fits my hawt bad boy to a T! He is fucked up and dear god do I want him. When we get the whole picture of what made him be this way my heart broke for him. I really did just want to hug him and hold him until he felt loved. Of course I'd then rip off his clothes as soon as he felt loved. It was such a good read and I totally enjoyed myself. I can't wait to see what book 3 will be about and hopefully we'll get to see more of Zach and Riff!

Brandi's Review

So yeah, after Rosa sent me her review and I laughed my ass off and then seeing how she wanted to rip Riff's clothes off I thought....hmmmm yeah Rosa can't have all the fun I want to lick the middle out of the Oreo too...okay sorry that was really bad LOL and me and Rosa have some really naughty inappropriate late night talks but anyways to the book.....so I was not a huge fan of Rock My Heart it was just okay to me BUT Michelle knocked Rock My Bed out of the park and I liked Riff more than Noel, I freaking loved Riff and after I got his whole story it just made me love him so much more! HOLY ROCKER BAD BOY SEX ON A STICK - Riff I <3 you and Rosa may want to rip your clothes off but I want to tie you up, fed you oreos, whisper naughty things in your ear and have your rocker babies! Agree with everything Rosa said a solid 4.5 read!

Exclusive Excerpt:

**Disclaimer: This content is unedited and subject to change**

I awake and slowly blink the sleep out of my eyes. The sun is fading, casting dark shadows in the room. I turn my head to see I’m alone in the bed. Lying on my stomach, staring non-seeing into the room, I remember how exquisitely fucked I was just a few hours ago.

The feel of his hard body over me and his cock moving in and out of me, the sweat dripping off him as we both came. I feel myself get turned on all over again, and he isn’t even here touching me. Then I remember his muted words spoken right before I fell asleep.

“I want you to know I would have waited another sixteen years to be able to feel that with you again.”

I’m finding it hard to believe that Jacob could rescue me from the prison I’ve put myself in over the years, living the life of someone other than whom I feel I should be. Even if that is my true wish, wishes don’t always come true.

The hotel room door opens and Jacob walks in carrying a couple bottles of water from a vending machine, setting them on a side table. He looks yummy as he walks to the bed with a wide smile on his face. Sitting next to me on the edge of the bed, he bends down and kisses my shoulder and down my naked spine, stopping where the sheet lies just above my ass.

“Hey, sleepyhead.” He murmurs in between those drugging kisses. My legs start to stir beneath the sheet and I’m tempted to take another ride before I have to leave.

“Hi. If you keep doing that, you’re not going to be able to stop me from having my wicked way with you again and I need to leave soon.” I sigh with frustration.

“Maybe that’s exactly what I want.” Running a finger up and down my spine, he stretches out next to me.

“I’m sure it is, but I have stuff to get done before I’m back on the road in a few days. I warned you I didn’t have much time but I would do my best to make this work.”

“It feels like I just got you back, and now you have to go away again. I’d much rather see your beautiful face, instead of dreaming of it. Will you have time to sneak away again before you fly out?”

“I’m not sure. We’ll have to play it by ear. I don’t know how much I have to give you, Jacob. And I’m not just talking about my time either. I’ve been going down this lonely path for a while now and I’m not sure where it’s left me. Regardless of what we did today, I am still a married woman with commitments and responsibilities.” I hate bringing up this fact, but I need the reminder out there that this isn’t a fairytale. Its real life, and its messy.

He leans over and thoroughly kisses me before murmuring, “I know. And I’ll take whatever I can get with you. It’s better than having none of you.”

With that parting blow, he kisses me one last time, grabs his keys and heads out.

“Text me later, baby. I’ll be waiting.”

I sure hope I know what I’m doing, because it feels as though things are going to get extremely complicated.

Blessed Tragedy by H.B. Heinzer ~ Review

Synopsis

Maddie Neumann died the day she pulled away from her parents' house determined to make her dreams come true. She wasn't the perfect little princess she'd been raised to be, all she wanted to do was rock. Everything Maddie was tucked away in a box to allow for her re-birth as Rain Maxwell; a badass rocker who answered to no one and lived by her own set of rules.

Rain's world is shattered with one phone call from her estranged family. No sooner does she get home than everything she thought she knew about her life starts changing.

Colton Bradford knew there was something special about Rain the moment they first met. Unfortunately, she had a hard and fast rule about dating a bandmate so he was stuck in the friends zone. When Rain is going through her own personal hell, will Colton finally be able to make her see how he feels and convince her to take a chance on love?

Review

4 Stars

All I can say is that I really, really enjoyed this book. This is told from Maddy’s POV. Reading the title, I wasn’t sure what to expect. And I wasn’t expecting to get grabbed by the front of my shirt and pulled into this book like I was. I’m being honest, when I say I didn’t want to put it down at all yesterday. I finished this in less than one day. What does that tell you??? I have read a lot of books in my lifetime and I loved the way this story flowed from the beginning, the characters came to life for me & I, at times, found myself experiencing some of the emotions that Maddy Neumann aka Rain Maxwell was feeling.

I don’t want to give away any spoilers on this book. So let me give this a try……Maddy is the only girl in the band called Blessed Tragedy. The other members are Colton, Travis & Jon. They’ve been together for five years now & are on tour, as an opening act, when Maddy receives a call from one of her brothers. There has been a death in the family & Maddy needs to return home. During the time she’s been away from home (5 yrs), her family relationship has been strained. She took off after graduating high school and never looked back. She rarely returns for visits either. Her family didn’t give her their “stamp of approval” to pursuing her dream. Obviously, they wanted her to go to college. While some would call this being immature or maybe selfish, I respected her determination and taking a chance to do what she wanted to do. She forms a strong bond with the guys in the band and they’ve been her “family” & her rock when needed.

She gets some unexpected surprises on this return home and I think this helped heal some of her wounds. She also swore she’d never get involved with any members of the band because she felt it would be hard to continue to be in it if they split up. I have to put my two cents in here and ask “What was she numb this entire time being around Colton and just being friends?” Well, I really admired how Colton held off on pursuing this friendship any further. Even when he knew he wanted her as more than a friend and waited until the time was right. Or where they pushed into it??

This book takes you on tour with the band and at the end of it, when they finally get home to Portland, the band’s bonds are tested. Do they work through it?? You’ll have to read this book and find out for yourself. I highly recommend reading Blessed Tragedy. I cannot wait to read Blessed Fate which I’m hoping is still on to be released in June. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it will NOT be my last.

*ARC received in exchange for my honest review.

Rosa - Guest Reviewer for Sugar and Spice

Howdy! I'm Rosa, guest reviewer for the awesome Sugar and Spice. During the day I'm a super hero doing dishes, laundry, sweeping and mopping but only in my imagination. Really I just teach my 4 year old son awesome ways to lay around and read books. I am a stay at home mother of 3 really loud smart-ass and sarcastic kids. They are my pride and joy till they give me attitude then they are on the verge of seeing my pimp hand. At night I'm a sex goddess that can sing like Adele and hit them high nights like ooooooooohhhhhhhh yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhh!! But again only in my imagination. In real life I'm a fictional ho that has multiple book boyfriends that I constantly cheat on with my actual real life husband. Several of my favorite books are from Abbi Glines (cuz she's the shit). Beautiful Disaster by Jaime McGuire (just like a million other ladies) Any book Jennifer L Armentrout writes. And for my paranormal girls I loved The Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead. One word Dorian! Hot stuff right there.
I love hooker jokes cuz really who doesn't like a good hooker? Hope u enjoy!

Why do Jewish men like to watch porno movies backward?

They like the part where the hooker gives the money back.

This Love of Mine by Amanda Bennett ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Blurb:

I needed an escape. An escape from my momma, a woman who cared more about herself than her own daughter. A woman who couldn't stand the sight of me since my father left. A boyfriend who was nothing but trouble. Trouble that I couldn't say no to.

Unfortunately, leaving them both would prove to be either the best decision I could ever make, or the biggest mistake of my life.

My plan was to escape to the one place I always felt safe. A place where life is simple and quiet, and a place where I could finish my senior year of high school unscathed. Abernathy, Texas was my second home, and my grandparents were the parents I aways wanted. There was no one around this one horse town to complicate my life any further, or at least that's what I thought. That was, until I met Madison Raine.

He held the power to turn my peaceful escape upside down and inside out with just one look. He was beautiful, in every sense of the word and with that beauty, came trouble. There were a million reasons why I should stay away from him, but none of them seemed to matter when I caught sight of those emerald green eyes. It was becoming clear that staying away from Madison would be harder than I had anticipated.

A past like mine never fully disappears, until you find yourself faced with the irreparable truth that sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands, consequences be damned.

Kayla James (KJ) was everything I never knew I wanted. This was the last summer I would be on the farm before I headed off to college, and meeting her was the last thing I expected. I didn't know what had brought her here, and I honestly didn't care. I had my own things to deal with and a relationship wasn't one of them. Little did I know that this girl, would wind up being exactly what I needed in every way possible.

Life hasn't always been easy, and telling my grandparents that I was going to college in another state was going to be the death of me, but it was something I needed to do. I needed a life outside of Texas, one where no one knew who I was or what I had lost. Between baseball and my band, I thought I had it made.

All it took was one look into those baby blues and I was a goner. I ended up needing her like I needed air to breathe, and everything inside of me wanted to be with her regardless of the outcome. How do you choose between love and life, and convince the one person who trusts no one, to take a chance on you?

(This is book #1 of three in The Raine Series. It contains mature language and situations)

This Love of Mine Dreamcast

Review

4.5 Stars

A sweet love story about two young people that didn’t have the greatest of childhoods, finding a connection that was totally unexpected.

Madison Raine is an 18 year old spending part of his summer at his grandparent’s farm in Abernathy, TX before heading off to Arizona State. He visits every summer to help out with what needs to be done. Madison is one fine looking hot, young cowboy. Oh, and did I forget to mention that he has tattoos?? *smile face* He has received a full scholarship to Arizona State to play baseball and he’s set to leave the farm in 2 days. Or is he?? He meets the girl visiting her grandparents on a neighboring farm. She doesn’t say much to him in the beginning, but over the course of the days he has left, they get to know a little more about each other. And the thought of leaving her, now that he's found her, is eating him up.

Kayla, where do I begin with this poor girl?? She’s 17 years old and will be a senior in high school in the fall. Her parents split when she was young & always hoped that her father would return. So this leaves her with her mom, a woman who is an alcoholic, self-absorbed and needs to be knocked off her country club pedestal! I admired Kayla’s strength and smart thinking in realizing that she needed to get as far away from her home as she could. Her boyfriend is nothing but trouble with a capital T and her mother needs some serious therapy. So she starts her summer vacation early and leaves Arizona to spend it at her grandparent’s farm in TX. She needs a place to feel safe and enjoy the simple things in life. But simple wasn’t going to be what she gets when she first lays eyes on Madison. I honestly can’t blame her. I think I would have had the same reaction.

Wow…I loved reading this book. With each word I read, it painted a beautiful picture of what was happening in this story and I enjoyed it even more than I anticipated. I got to meet two sets of grandparents, who love their grandchildren more than their own parents do, a young man who thought he knew the direction his life was going only to have it shaken up by a young girl & let’s not forget Kayla’s friend, Cami & Madison’s friend Glenn. Kayla and Madison make some tough choices in trying to figure out how or if their new relationship could continue. I did not see the ending of this book coming, even when it was headed straight for me. It ends in a cliffhanger. Darn it…..I really don’t like those, but knowing that there will be more to Kayla and Madison very soon, helped relieve some of my frustration.

I highly recommend you read this book, I absolutely loved it!

Cover Reveal ~ Let Love In by Melissa Collins

Release date: May 10th

Synopsis:

What would happen if you lost everything? If the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally were no longer there for you, how would your world change?

That’s exactly what happened to Madeleine Becker when her parents died when she was ten years old. Ripped from her home and everything that she has ever loved, she is forced to start all over again. The only way for her to move on is to build walls around her heart and keep everyone at a safe distance. Her logic: she can't get hurt if she doesn't fall in love.

That theory is blown to pieces when she meets Reid Connely during her freshman year at college. He is gorgeous and darkly mysterious. He understands Maddy's pain all too well, but sharing his pain would mean breaking down the walls he put up around his own heart. Conflicted between loving Maddy and hiding his dark past, Reid starts to reevaluate his world. Maddy's inner strength, snarky personality and breath taking beauty help Reid to make peace with his past.

Together they find out what happens when they let love in.

Snippet of Maddy and Reid’s first encounter:

There was a group playing quarters on the island and another group lining up shots on the breakfast bar – so not my scene. I just shrugged my shoulders, opened the door, pulled out a bottle of water and, when I turned around to walk back outside, I face-planted into a wall of solid muscle.

“Hand me one?” His voice was smooth and... gruff at the same time. Red-faced, I turned back around and got him his water, glad for the cool respite that the opened refrigerator door offered.

“Here you go.” I could not peel my eyes away from his mouth as he moved the bottle to his lips. They were perfect - beautiful and full in a completely masculine way. I watched, completely fascinated, as his throat moved, downing the water in three or four large gulps. He wiped his mouth with his forearm and I couldn’t help but let my eyes travel up the rest of his arm to his biceps and shoulders – those were the same as his lips – perfect. Amazingly, gorgeously, utterly, divinely perfect. Muscled and tanned, his arms were mouthwatering.

My knees wobbled. My heart thudded. Thousands of butterflies spread their wings in my belly.

“Thanks…” he stared blankly at my face for a minute and I couldn't help but wondering if he liked what he saw. He cleared his throat and roused me from my little daydream where the gorgeous boy is mesmerized by the maybe-a-little-above-average looking girl. That’s when I realized he was asking for my name.

“Maddy. Sorry, my name’s Maddy." I nearly choked on my tongue to get my freaking name out.

Author Bio:

I’ve always been an avid reader. Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer. Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer. I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it. When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity. My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there. I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Waiting on Forever by Ashley Wilcox ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Synopsis

College.

Parties, sororities and getting drunk.

Oh, yeah. And learning.

This may be true for most college students, but not for Leah Bennett. College life for her includes studying, working, and excelling in school. When it comes to the social ladder, Leah is at the bottom. Popular girls, hot guys and star athletes are of no importance to her, except for one.

Matthew Jacobs.

Matt is the starting wide receiver at SUNY Cortland, the most wanted guy on campus and Leah’s best friend. Although Leah’s feelings toward Matt run deeper than just a friendship, it is something she would never let be heard because the odds of someone like Matthew Jacobs going for someone like Leah Bennett are slim to none.

When Matt starts showing an interest in Leah that goes beyond friendship, she is dumbfounded and doesn’t believe it is possible – until one weekend that changes everything.

Will Matt and Leah’s popularity status get in the way of having a chance at a real relationship?

Or does status mean nothing when it comes to true love?

Review

4 Stars....

First, let me say this book was really well written and flowed beautifully.  A very fast read about finding your first, true love. This story was about two young college students "The Jock" and "The Quiet Nerd" who find each other first day of orientation for college.  Their relationship blossoms throughout the story then BAM they fall hard!  Sweet, Sweet Leah once she got a taste of Matt there was no turning back.  There were a few reveals that totally shocked me!  Unbelievable? Yes I know, especially with all the steamy erotic novels I have read lately.  This love story was not steamy and erotic but just sweet young love.  Every character was so well defined and completely made this story even better.

Completely loved how Ashley began the book in Matt's POV and ended in his POV.  BRILLIANT!!!

Congrats Ashley Wilcox on a job well done!  Keep up the good work, you have grown as a writer and I'm really looking forward to the next book in The Forever Series!

About the Author

Some may consider me a jack of all trades, but I consider myself well rounded.

I’ve waitressed, styled hair, answered phones and, most recently, worked full time as mom to my two beautiful little boys.

Then there was this book…

Everyone and their brother started talking about this book series titled Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James. I didn’t really pay attention to the craze at first, since I wasn’t a big reader- okay, I didn’t read at all. But curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded it to my kindle.

I was immediately hooked. I read the whole series in three days. Yes, three books in three days.

I kept finding all these great books that I HAD to read (just ask my credit card!).

Then I started hearing voices. Voices that turned into stories; stories that were begging to get out of my head.

I started writing them down on scraps of paper. Then I transferred them to my computer. Before I knew it, PLANNING ON FOREVER was born.

The voices in my head are still talking, so I’m still writing.

Review

I recently just discovered the Fighting for Love series and it has quickly because one of my favorite series, it is definitely the best written series that I've read about fighters so far. 4.5 stars.

This one starts off with Lucie's best friend Vanessa "Nessie" McGregor, landing in Hawaii to help plan the wedding of Lucie's dreams for her because she has been struck with food poisoning and is to ill to travel. We meet Lucie in Seducing Cinderella and she is going to marry Reid Alexander MMA fighter and best friend of her brother Jackson Maris. When Vanessa arrives she is supposed to meet with "Jax" her best friends brother. Well Jax does not make a good first impression showing up late. See, Vanessa's life has not always been perfect, she has created a touch exterior and doesn't let many in....oh and she also has 7 Rules that she lives by and she is not breaking them for anyone.

Jackson "Jax" Maris is Lucie's only brother. After their parents died in an accident, he gave up his life to raise Lucie. Once Lucie was old enough, Jax went to Hawaii, where he trains and fights as an MMA fighter. Jax goes to Hawaii to find answers to things he found out once his parents died, things he didn't even tell Lucie about....so Jax has secrets. When he arrives late to pickup his baby sister's best friend Vanessa up, his world is rocked in ways he can't even possibly begin to imagine, the chemistry between the two is smoldering! Jax tells Vanessa a little lie, Vanessa makes Jax an offer he can't refuse, and then lines are crossed and rules are forgotten but Jax has his work cut out with Vanessa when she finds out the truth...and then Jax throws in his own set of rules at the end and seriously, one of the most swoon-worthy moments in a book ever!

I love how in this series we still get glimpses of old characters while reading about the new. I highly recommend you read this series....it's steamy, sexy, fun, feisty, and has hot MMA fighters....what else does a girl need?

Excerpt

Brax

“Was that Shay, babe?” she asks, looking at me with those bright green eyes of hers.

“Uh, yeah. He just wanted to see how far we’d gone today. He’s annoyed he couldn’t come along, but to be honest,” I say, inching towards her, “I’m glad I have you all to myself. My hot girl, in my hot car, it’s kinda hot, don’t you think?”

Elise

Hearing Brax say the word hot so many times in one sentence has my blood racing.

“Mmm hmm,” I say, darting my tongue out to slowly lick my lips. His gaze drops to my mouth and when he sees what I’m doing, a small growl rumbles in his chest.

“I see. Like that, is it?” he whispers, moving in closer so that our lips are barely touching.

He mimics my action, licking his own lips while gently grazing mine. It’s like the fire that we’ve been stoking all afternoon has been well and truly lit. Suddenly his hand is around the back of my head and he is pulling me towards him, plundering my mouth the moment I open my lips in shock. I grab his shirt, holding on for dear life as we struggle to control ourselves. Our tongues entwine as we pour all of the pent up sexual tension from the last few hours into this one kiss. It’s hard, it's raw, and totally uninhibited.

Brax has to pull away first, resting his forehead against mine as we struggle to catch our breath. I can’t help but give him a sly grin - I’m getting better as this little game of ours.

“You, my little minx, are gonna be the death of me if you keep that up,” he teases. “But if you can wait just another hour, you can have me as much as you’d like. It’ll just be in a nice clean hotel room, instead of being parked up at a highway rest stop. We can even get room service,” he says, giving me a cheeky wink before starting the car up.

The next hour can’t go fast enough.

Review

I found this book to be a very enjoyable read. It had suspense, secrets, & a relationship that develops & becomes something more unexpectedly. 4 Stars

Elise (Elle) Halliwell is in danger. Her father, mother & 10yo sister were murdered while she was away at camp 3 years earlier. Her father owned a multimillion dollar company, Brightlight & did very well building it up before his untimely death. She has no other family & is all alone. Her father’s partner, Harry & his wife Sylvie, took Elise in until she went away to college. Harry is a shady & overbearing pompous jerk. I didn’t care for the way he hounds/harasses Elise to sell her controlling interest in Brightlight to him. She owns 60%, while Harry has 40%. Obviously, he wasn’t happy finding this out when the will was read. He thought that it would be left to him. She doesn’t want to part with the last piece she has left of her family. Elise is to take over as CEO when she graduates college.

Braxton (Brax) meets Elise posing as a college student. He’s really there to protect her. He & Shay have been given the job of keeping her safe & finding out if she has any idea that she might be in danger. Brax & Shay have a long standing relationship since they were in the Army together & now work for a security firm. I loved how Brax was instantly attracted to Elise & he tries to fight his feelings knowing that you never develop a relationship with the one you are protecting.

Elise was devastated when her family was killed & it takes a lot for her to open up, not only to anyone, let alone Brax. But she lets him into her life. It starts when the two of them are paired together to work on a class project & slowly develops into something more that neither one of them expected. The mysterious black car outside on her street, the notes of warning that she’s next, Uncle Harry’s surprise visit to see if Elise has changed her mind about selling, these all keep the boys busy trying to figure out what is going on & who may be behind. All of this, while not letting Elise know that she is right smack in the middle of it.

Brax doesn’t like keeping these secrets, especially that he came into her life because of the possible danger she may be in. He’s afraid of the damage it might pose to their relationship. He didn’t expect to fall in love with her. Having Elle in his life makes him want to be a better person. But to keep her safe, he has to do something that he’s very torn up about. I melted when I read this.

“She’s completely unraveling me, she has turned me inside out & back around again. I can’t imagine how anyone could want to hurt her.”

I loved this author’s first book. This is written from both Elise’s & Braxton’s POVs. I like this because I can get into their heads & know exactly what they’re feeling/thinking. For a first time author BJ had the skill of writing a great story & keeping the reader wanting more. I found it hard to put down this book to get what I needed to get done in my daily life. We can’t read all day, as much as I’d love to. I’ll warn you now, this book ends with a cliffhanger. I need Lost & Found, like yesterday!

Having always loved reading, and having been befriended and inspired by some awesome self published authors and book lovers alike, I decided to start writing my first novel, Lost in Distraction in December 2012. It was a conscious decision that started with a song, then the prologue and then catapulted from there. I love music too, like REALLY love music, if there isn't music playing, something is wrong. Out and Proud Vampire Diaries fan as well.

I'm also a wife, mother, full-time university student and I do contract work for myself from home.
