If you play with fire…

Tossed out of college and cut off by her parents, Samantha West is in pretty dire straits. So when her rocker best friend hooks her up with a job dancing at a gentlemen’s club, who is she to turn it down? Plus, there are rules to dancing at Benny’s: No touching, keep your clothes on at all times, and never get closer than three feet. Unfortunately for Sam, her first private client makes her want to break every single one of them.

Harrison Yates is scorching hot, but he’s got a past that involves being left at the altar not too long ago. Sam is determined to make him forget about his ex, but when she makes her move, it flings her life into a spiral of chaos she never saw coming.

Chapter 10

I’m grasping at any distraction, so when Izzy calls and invites me to the movies the next afternoon, I suggest a double header. We’re in the middle of our second—the new Star Trek—when Izzy nudges my knee with hers.
“Is he hotter than that?” she asks with a jut of her chin at the screen, where Chris Pine and his yummy blue eyes gaze out at us.
“Yes.”
Her eyes widen, glowing white in the silver light. “Oh, girlfriend! You got to go for it.”
I slouch deeper into my seat and stare up at the screen. “What if he says no?”
“Have you seen yourself? He’s not going to say no.”
“He’s on the rebound.”
“So?”
I look at her. “So … I don’t want to be his rebound girl.”
“Why not? It’s not like you’re looking to marry the guy. It’s just a hook-up.”
I turn that over in my head and realize she’s right. “So, you think I should just ask him on a date or something?”
“Don’t overthink this, Sam. If he comes into the club tonight, just tell him you want him to take you home after shift. It’s that easy.”
“You sound like you’ve done this before.”
She smiles and turns back to the screen, and I know I’m right.
#
When we get to Benny’s, Izzy helps me with my boots in the dressing room because my hands are shaking so hard I can’t get the laces right.
“Chill,” she says, resting a hand over mine. “It’s going to happen.”
I let her slip my hands off my boots and lean back in the sofa. “He’s going to say no.”
“Then he’s an asshat,” she says, tugging on my laces. “But if you want him, you’ll never know if he wants you back unless you ask.”
“I feel so stupid,” I lament, throwing my hands over my burning face.
She finishes my laces and pats my leg. “You’re consenting adults. Ben and Nora have no say over who you see on your own time. There’s no reason for you not to go for it, and I’ll bet half my tips he doesn’t say no.”
I peek out from between my fingers. “You think?”
She grins at me. “I know.”
“Then why didn’t you bet all your tips?” She laughs and I cover my face again. “Oh God,” I groan, “I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
She pries a hand loose and pulls me up by it. “Showtime, girlfriend.”
Nora’s in the hall when we step out of the dressing room. “Move your tails. You’re late!”
She shoos us up the hall to our stages, and when I step out onto mine, the first thing I do, as always, is scan the crowd for him. It only takes a second to spot him, up near the bar, leaning against the rail that separates the mezzanine from the pit. He looks so relaxed, so sure of himself, that he stands out from the rest of the clientele. He tips his beer at me in a salute and smiles when he sees me gawking.
I suck the drool off my lower lip and watch him watching me on the stage. With every passing song, I gain more confidence when he hardly seems to notice the women circling him. Even on the occasion one swoops in, he brushes her off and his eyes never stray from me. I feel them move over me like a gentle caress as I dance just for him.

“Girlie!” Nora calls between songs, and I realize I’m totally lost in my fantasy. It seems like I’ve only been out here a few minutes. It can’t possibly be the end of my three hour shift.
I turn and find her at the door, peering out from behind the curtain, crooking her finger at me that I should come. I grab the last few tips being waved in the air at the front of my stage, and Jen brushes past me to take my place as Nora hooks my elbow and pulls me out the door.
“Did I do something wrong?” I ask, afraid maybe she found out about my plan.
She doesn’t let loose her grasp on my elbow as she marches me up the hall to the office, and my stomach is in knots until she grins at me. “You did something very right. You’ve got five privates. Had to pull you off early so there’ll be time before closing to make all your fans happy.” But then she lets me go and holds up her notebook, tapping the last name on the list with the end of her pen: Harrison Yates. “He’s paid for an hour again. If there’s something going on between you two, you better be keeping it outside this club, girlie,” she warns.
I roll my eyes and try to come off all casual, but my heart is racing. “I’m following the rules, Nora. I promise.”
One at a time she leads the first four in and I dance. I stay on my game by remembering that every passing minute brings me closer to my target. Two hours later, when Harrison walks in, all I can think about is what I want to do to him—what I’m going to do to him.
Nora gives me a meaningful look and closes the door.
Harrison’s gaze takes possession of me as it sweeps over my body. “I’m not sure I like sharing you with so many other men,” he says, stepping closer.
Say it, I coach myself. Don’t chicken out. “I know a way you could have me all to yourself.”
He tips his head in a question and something feral flares in his eyes.
“Where are you staying?” I ask, working to keep the shake out of my voice.
“I have a hotel.”
“Bring me home with you.” My heart is hammering against my ribs and I can barely breath, but I manage to get it out.
But when his face pulls into a grimace, I want to shrivel up and die. “Sam … one of the crew is staying in my room tonight.”
I back toward the door, embarrassed. “If you don’t want to—” But that’s as far as I get before he’s cut me off, a hand twisted into my hair and his mouth devouring mine.
His kiss isn’t gentle. It’s hungry and insistent. It’s rough and hot and angry. It’s so desperate that I ache with his need. His tongue slashes through my lips and I open wide, letting him have me, letting him taste all of me.
But then he lets me go and staggers back as if I’ve burned him. “I’m sorry. I just … ” He shoves a hand through is hair and lowers his gaze. “You make me crazy. I can’t even think when I’m around you.”
“I don’t want you to think.”
His eyes lift to mine as I stalk toward him. They burn with need as I lay my hands on his chest, then smooth them up to his shoulders.
“What about the rules?” he asks, breathily.

“Screw the rules.” I push him backward until the sofa takes his legs out from under him, then climb astride his lap.

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

Worse, he sees right through the walls she’s built over these last eight years, right into her heart and the secrets she’s guarding.

Chapter Five

Laurelyn McLachlan

My eyes are closed and I’m listening to the sound of the waves. I’ve only been awake for a few minutes but the resonance is hypnotic so I’m drifting back into slumber when the bed shifts. My eyes pop open when the bed sheet slides down my body and I feel Jack Henry’s kisses against the bare skin of my lower back. “Are you awake?”

“I am now.”

He runs his hand over the valley where my spine curves inward. “Have I ever told you how much I love this dip?”

Is he kidding? Only like a bazillion times. “I believe you may have a time or two.”

His wet tongue glides upward and I bow reflexively, sending my bottom up from the bed, hitting him against his chest. My hair prickles as goosebumps spread from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. No matter how many times he does this, my body reacts the same. “Good grief. You’d think I’d become immune to that at some point.”

His palm slides up my thigh to my cheek and he rubs it in a circular motion. “Please don’t because I’ll never tire of seeing your body arch like that.”

I relax beneath his touch and his talented hands knead the muscles of my back as they make their way to my shoulders. I haven’t said anything but my body is rebelling after our frolic against the pole yesterday. A massage is very welcomed. “Mmm … you can stop doing that sometime next week.”

His fingers knead in circles and, again, my body erupts into chills. “So you like that, huh?”

“Mmm-hmm … just a little bit.”

“A massage is the least I can do since it’s my fault you’re sore.”

I lift my head from the pillow and peer over my shoulder at him. “I didn’t say I was sore.”

“You didn’t but your body speaks to me in other ways.”

Funny, I didn’t hear it say a thing. “How so?”

“It wasn’t your usual fuck-me-harder moan I heard when I pushed your legs back.” He leans down to kiss the side of my neck. “Your legs were guarded so I knew you were probably feeling the aftermath of our pole excursion.” He kisses the side of my face. “I’m sure it’s worse today so we’re taking a break from sex so you can recuperate.”

I recall how gentle and loving Jack Henry was last night while we christened our honeymoon bed. His whole demeanor was different, but he was that way before, possibly discerning how sore I was. “Is that why you were so gentle with me?”

“Partly.”

“What’s the other reason?”

“I wanted to make love to you.” He presses his nose against my hair and inhales deeply. “I’m boorish with you too often. I should be gentler.”

I roll, forcing him to move from my back. “Listen up, McLachlan.” He moves to his side and we’re face to face. “I love your gentle side but I’m not a porcelain doll. I love it when you fuck me hard.” I grab his chin and give it a squeeze. “Sometimes I need you to be a caveman. I crave it. Understand?”

He nods in agreement. “Yes, ma’am.”

Review

Honestly, going into this series I wasn't sure what to expect....we know Tara Sivec can write funny and heart-warming, what I wasn't expecting was Tara to suck me in to this series writing as T.E. Sivec. Tara proves she can write it all, whether it be laugh-out-loud hilarious or suspenseful and sexy! I ended up really loving this series.....you gotta love smoking hot, military alpha males and take no-nonsense sassy women who knock them off their feet!

Austin is a Navy Seal for life. It is the only thing he knows, the only family he knows. He had a horrible childhood, and found himself in the military and it become his family. When one of his fellow Seals calls on him for help, it is without a doubt that he is there, after all they are his brothers. When he goes to help watch over his friend Brady's sister Gwen, Austin soon finds his presence is not wanted, but he can't help but want something with the woman who gives him an attitude even though he never had an desire for a family before Gwen.

Gwen is hiding. Hiding from a past that has left her broken. She may look tough and be sassy on the outside, but she has suffered from years of abuse from her ex and she will do anything to make sure that her and her daughter are safe and never have to experience that life again. At first she butts heads with Austin but as strange things start to happen, Austin's presence is making Gwen feel safe and making her want things she hasn't wanted in years. What happens when these two give in to their feelings...can they keep it strictly physical without falling? And what happens when the Navy Seals come calling for Austin....can and will he leave "his girls"?

I loved this story! My only complaint is that I wish we would have gotten more of Gwen and Austin in the future. Worn Me Down had it all....suspense, romance, plenty of sexy time, and even made me laugh at points! I'm excited for the next book in this series.

(Kelsey's POV)
A smile smothers my lips as I spot Roy standing in front of some fancy restaurant. He’s dressed in all black (as usual), but his hair is wavy, proving he most likely took a shower before reaching his destination. He’s looking around, and there are moments when he checks his phone. My smile continues as I start to walk toward him, but in no time, my smile evaporates. A girl rushes up to him, and I stop in my tracks, staring like a deer stuck in headlights. I’m… confused. The girl stands on her toes and wraps her arms around his neck, and somehow, a part of me shrivels away. I swallow to block the dryness in my throat. I can feel my bottom lip trembling… my palms getting sweaty. I don’t even realize I’ve dropped the bag in my hand or the cup holder containing the coffee until I’m storming towards him. My eyebrows are furrowed, fists clenched tight around my keys. The sharp metal of my keys is digging into my hand, but I don’t even realize it. I can’t seem to focus on anything but my boyfriend walking into some restaurant with this blonde beauty.

Reaper's Legacy by Joanna Wylde ~ Review

18076876

Synopsis

WELCOME TO THE CLUB

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart—and her virginity—to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…

Review

Reaper’s Legacy is a great addition to the Reapers MC series. There is nothing like being sucked into a biker book….. The grittiness, the action, simply how raw they are. Joanna manages to include all these characteristics, yet still make the series seem realistic without all the over the top drama and violence seen in so many biker series today. The characters are unique and the steam factor is smoking! 4 stars!

What I loved.....

The characters! Both characters were such headstrong and independent characters and when they conflicted? It made for great moments of conflict with tons of angst, sexual tension, and passion! See the quotes below:

I’m not a knight in shining fucking armor, Sophie. What part of this don’t you get?
-
“I think you’re a raging asshole.”
Ruger laughed. “Yeah, well I think you’re a bitch, but my cock likes you, so we’ll figure something out.”

For one, I felt that long-term relationships should be monogamous. he felt they should be monogamous for me and open for him.

“You’re a very frustrating person, Ruger,” I said, torn between bitching at him for being such a giant whore or jumping over the counter, ripping off his pants, and riding his cock.

The man was like heroin – seductive, addictive, and a damned good way to wake up dead.’ - Sophie

The Story…..

Sophie meets Ruger on the night she lost her virginity to his step brother, Zach. Let’s just say that this is a night that neither one of them ever forgets. Coincidentally, that night she also gets pregnant. Eight months later, Ruger is the one who is there for her to deliver her little boy, Noah. It seems that really Ruger is the one who is always there when Sophie needs someone, and not Zach.

Several years later, after Sophie has moved away and is struggling to make ends meet because Zach is a dead-beat father, Ruger comes in and saves the day again. This time Ruger doesn’t give Sophie a choice, they are moving in with him regardless of what she thinks, because he will not risk Noah’s safety again. Sophie doesn’t know whether to smack Ruger or jump his bones, no man infuriates her like he does. The more time she spends in his home, the more the sexual tension between the two sizzles. Sophie knows better than to get involved with Ruger, after all, he is nothing but a man-whore and he admittedly will not be monogamous. What happens when they can no longer deny the attraction and chemistry between the two of them? What happens when a blast from the past comes in and threatens Sophie’s safety, will Ruger be there when she really needs him?

What I struggled with......

The first part of the book started so strong, it was without a doubt 5 stars. Then around the middle or so it started to drag, and it dragged for a little while. What I was reading was not necessarily boring, just not necessarily exciting either. It did pick up at the end, but this caused me to knock a star off of my rating.

Final Thoughts......

Overall, this is a great series.....raw, emotional, and addictive. I loved this one just as much as the first one. I can’t wait for book 3, which will be Em’s and Hunter's story! It looks like it is going to be the best yet!

Rachel Dennehy had a crazy thought. If she could just start over somewhere else, she could forget about her sad and tragic past and all the ghosts that chased her. When an email landed in her inbox, to tutor a difficult student whose father just happened to be the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the nation, the apple was a bit too enticing for Rachel to refuse. She moves from Texas to Beverly Hills, where she is tasked with turning around her wealthy pupil’s bad attitude. It is a bad attitude that stems almost entirely from his parents’ ugly divorce and even uglier custody battle.
That her new boss Andrew, or Drew, Fullerton is one of the handsomest and most eligible bachelors in the world means nothing to Rachel. She has absolutely no plans to ever marry or have kids of her own. Her priority is teaching nine-year-old Jonathan, who needs her guidance and her direction and... most importantly... her friendship.
Drew’s brother, Alex, however, assumes otherwise. He basically accuses her of being a gold-digging opportunist upon their first meeting. This sets the two immediately at odds, though they both have young Jonathan’s best interest at heart. Alex believes that Rachel is a “ringer,” a wholesome alternative to edge Jonathan’s socialite mother out of the running for custody, since she left Drew after her own salacious affair with a younger man. He wastes no time in telling Rachel that as long as she stays in her job, she will keep Jonathan from his real mother, and that is the driving force behind Drew's interest.
Unfortunately the more he tries to warn her away from Drew, the closer he ultimately propels her toward her charming boss. Drew never questions her motivation or her presence because Jonathan thrives under her tutelage, and Drew is beguiled by her no-nonsense attitude that challenges him from the start.
Rachel navigates these choppy waters solely to protect Jonathan. She sees the adults in the family as self-serving; most of whom are far more interested in hurting each other than taking care of this fragile, vulnerable boy. Her heart traps her into this sticky web, despite her own history of loss and betrayal. How long will she last? More importantly, what will she be required to give to save these Fullerton men who continually tug her in three different directions?
The saga begins with the first book, titled “Enticed,” due to release in early 2014. Author Ginger Voight returns to the dream-making landscape of Los Angeles, in a new tale that throws back the curtain on the dangerous power, appeal and excess of the privileged. Only by the time this tale is done, one principle character will pay the ultimate price as they all race toward that elusive happily ever after.

The saga continues for Rachel Dennehy, the tenacious small-town teacher caught in between two compelling, powerful brothers.
****This is Book 2 in the series. Blurb may contain spoilers for Book 1.****
In Book 2 of the Fullerton Family Saga, teacher Rachel Dennehy heads back to California to save her favorite little boy from his rapid downward spiral. She feels responsible for Jonathan's destructive behavior, knowing it was her broken promise that sent him off the rails. She moves in with Alex, a man who had been her nemesis for so long. Thrust together with the shared goal of saving Jonathan, they find more in common than they had realized.
In fact, it is Alex who comes to her rescue Drew confronts Rachel over her “betrayal.” The chemistry still burns hot between them, but Rachel cannot forgive Drew’s cruel deception. Unfortunately he is unwilling to let her go. Drew Fullerton doesn't like to lose, especially to his younger brother. So he proceeds with his plan to win her back, using every trick in the book to force her hand, including his son.
Young Jonathan holds fast to his dream of a real family, which tears her in yet another direction. Her heart is torn between the three Fullertons, all of whom need her in very different ways. Someone is going to get hurt, no matter what she does. She struggles to do what is right, even when she finds it puts her at direct odds with what she wants.
How far must Rachel go to win back Jonathan’s trust, and protect the men she has grown to love?
Ginger Voight is prolific author, freelance writer and optioned screenwriter. Her fiction is diverse, with novels like the edgy, coming-of-age drama DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS, and the fun family adventure for kids of all ages, COMIC SQUAD.
Having grown up reading different authors like Danielle Steel and Stephen King, Ginger has always been drawn more to story than to genre. This shows up in her various stories. Titles such as MY IMMORTAL and TASTE OF BLOOD are a delicious, heady mix of horror, suspense, and romance.
Genre romance, however, has held a special place in her heart, ever since she read her first Harlequin novel when she was only eleven. As a result, Ginger is making a name for herself writing romances of her own, starring women who look more like the average American woman rather than those traditionally represented in the size-biased American media. Her Rubenesque romances were created especially for those heroines with fuller figures, who can still get the man of their dreams if only they believe they can. Such titles include UNDER TEXAS SKIES, LOVE PLUS ONE, THE GROUPIE TRILOGY, THE FIERCE TRILOGY and PICTURE POSTCARDS.
Ginger was included in the best-selling book by Smith Magazine NOT QUITE WHAT I WAS PLANNING, featuring her six-word memoir.

Synopsis
Calvin Parish
They call me Hero. I defend. I protect. I ask for nothing in return, and that makes me good. Doesn’t it? That which makes me the ultimate predator also feeds dark impulses I’ve learned to control—until I bring her too close. For years I’ve watched her from afar, but what started out as duty has become obsession.
Cataline Ford
I work hard. I play by the rules. I’m content. My scars are quiet and invisible, and that keeps me hidden. Doesn’t it? One fateful walk home, I’m taken by someone I didn’t know I should fear. Captive and afraid, nobody will tell me why I’m confined to this hauntingly beautiful mansion. I’m given everything; I have nothing. He takes what he needs from me, and for that I hate him. But I might have loved him once. And just because you’re reading this doesn’t mean I survive him.

Excerpt
Because I’m lost in my thoughts, I don’t hear Cataline enter the room. Her tight black dress cuts across her mid-thighs, and her cleavage teases from a plummeting neckline. She’s done her makeup for probably the second time since arriving at the mansion. “What is this?” I ask, narrowing my eyes. “What?” Jasmine drifts under my nose as she walks away from me to her seat. “I told you not to dress up for dinner.” “I thought you’d like it,” she says, lowering herself gracefully into the chair. Her back is straight as a rod, and her fingers are laced. “You don’t?” Norman decorates the table with food as I stare Cataline down. He clears his throat. “For dinner, we have—” “Leave us.” He pauses. Though my eyes are still fastened on Cataline, I know he’s watching me as he bows his head. “As you wish, sir.” I stand and slowly walk the line of the long table. My footsteps echo through the hall, appropriately menacing. I’ve just come from a burning building but am back in my suit and tie to maintain appearances. And my ridiculous glasses, which I remove and toss aside. She’ll believe I’ve just returned from the office. When I’m standing over her, she tugs up the neckline of the dress and blinks at me. I resist smirking as she tucks hair behind her ear twice. “Well,” she says, “aren’t we going to eat?” “I’m going to eat.” “I’m not?” “As far as I’m concerned, there’s only one meal at this table, and it’s you.” My ears pick up her slow swallow, my eyes the curl of her hands in her lap. “That sounds like a threat,” she says quietly. I bend over, flatten one hand on the table and wrap the other around the arm of her chair. “It’s not. This is a threat: if you’re not naked and spread out on this table in two seconds, I’m going to spank you so hard, you won’t know up from down.”   heartdividerPost
