Title: Rome (Marked Men #3)
Author: Jay Crownover Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: January 7, 2014
Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

Ohhhhhhh......all my female hormones are doing the happy dance right now and it's all because of one word......ROME.....but seriously, somehow I think Jay got that name wrong because this guy should have been named ROMEO! Gahhhh....all the stuff that came out of this big, damaged, sexy, soldier's mouth just endeared him to me even more. There was no over the top drama, just a great love story! I LIVED it! 4.5 stars.
In order to make the same mistake, to prevent myself from giving my heart away so carelessly, I was bound and determined to wait for a guy who was all in with me. I wasn’t settling for anything less than perfection, even if I had to wait forever to find it.
Rome is Rome and Cora's story. Cora is this feisty little tattooed and pierced woman who has had her heart broken in the past by a lying cheating Ex. Rome is a soldier just discharged and trying to find his place in the world outside of the service while dealing with family issues and suffering with PTSD. Bottom line...Cora thinks Rome is a prick. She calls him Captain No-Fun. Rome and Cora are seeing each other often since they run in the same circle, and it's getting hard to deny the attraction they feel for the other. One night, Rome gets drunk and Cora ends up being the one to answer the shop phone and decides to help him. That one night changes everything....and I mean everything! After they give into their desires, Rome makes Cora rethink what her idea of Mr. Perfect is and Cora makes Rome want to find himself and get his crap together for her. Can Rome overcome his demons and can Rome change what Cora's idea of a fairytale is or has Cora's Ex damaged her for good?
“This” – I put my hand over his heart and made sure he could feel me squeeze him from the inside – “is as perfect as it gets. You’re my guy, no one else does to me or for me what you do, and that’s all there is to it. I didn’t know what perfect meant until you.” ~ Cora
"Being with you is the one thing that feels solid and real.....your so full of color. So vibrant you never get lost in all the gray in my head. I don't want to lose that." ~ Rome
Rome was a beautiful love story....a true opposites attract, love story. While I wish we had gotten a little peek into a big moment in Cora and Rome's lives through their eyes, I'm sure it will coming in the next book. I can't for the next book.....a huge secret is revealed and this will lead us up to Nash's story.

About Jay Crownover
I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
