Beck by Harper Sloan ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Synopsis

**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**

~DEE~

I’ve always been good at wearing masks. Not letting anyone see the real me. I’m content being the happy-go-lucky best friend. The strong willed boss. The independent woman who doesn’t need a man.

But the truth is I’m just as broken as the rest of you. I’m terrified that all it will take is one person to make all my carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust. So I guard my heart with everything I have. Determined to never let anyone get close enough to hurt me again.

All is perfect until HE walks into my life. No… he doesn’t just walk. He struts his good-looking, sex-oozing self-right into my space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.

So I did the only thing I know how to do.
I run.
But he just won’t let me go.

~BECK~

The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I see past the gorgeous smiles and heart- stopping laughter. I see HER. She doesn’t want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it my mission to find out.

To make her mine.

She can run all she wants, but it will never be far enough to stop me from coming after her.

She’s it for me and she knows it.
She’s just too scared to admit it.

**NO cliffhanger, HEA, inter-connected standalones**

Review

4.5 stars!

OH MY WORD. I started and finished Beck in one sitting today! I have absolutely nothing but praise for Beck and Harper Sloan.

If you've read Axel and Cage then you were introduced to Beck and Dee. While we got snippets of their awesomeness in those books, Harper Sloan did an amazing job of telling their story in full by going back and showing how scenes unfolded from Dee's eyes. During the first two books Dee seemed like everyone's happy-go-lucky friend, but as we learned in this book, she was guarded and hid her emotions very well.

Fortunately for her, Beck saw through the facade. Knowing she was on guard at all times he kept waiting patiently for her to overcome her fears and emotions. He is her constant and rock throughout the entire book-none of which we knew about in Axel and Cage.

"'I didn't ask for forever. You want to live in the moment, and get off while you're at it, I won't judge you. But fair warning, I'll do my best to change your mind.'"

I must say that this book felt completely different to me from the first two books in the Corps Security series. With the first two I was in love because of the fierce alpha maleness and hot, raw sex. Beck had the same sexiness as the first two books but I felt more emotion and substance from it as well.

The entire book I couldn't help but love Beck. He was hot hot hot! But he also oozed understanding, patience, and stood by Dee in ways that went above and beyond. Dee fought her feelings for Beck tooth and nail, but when they did get together fireworks exploded and the rawness of emotions poured off the pages.

"I lose track of how many times we flip back an forth, both of us fighting for the top position of control. When we fall off the bed, he flips so that his body takes the brunt of the pain, and I scream out his name when I land, and his dick hits me deeper than ever before. My eyes I roll back in my head, and I ride him like I'm auditioning for the top spot in a rodeo."

There were some HUGE plot twists in this book and knowing Cooper's book is next did NOT prepare me for what happened at all. I was seriously shocked and couldn't help but cry at the new turn of events. As usual the supporting characters were a great addition to the story, and I loved getting a bigger glimpse of Sway in this book-he definitely made me laugh.

I have to give major props to Harper Sloan. I have seen such a difference and growth in each book and grow more and more attached to each new twist and turn she writes. It's seriously so hard for me to not quote the entire book in this review so here are a couple of my favorites:

"Patience wasn't even a factor. When you love someone, you fight. You fight for them, and you fight with them. She needed me to fight for her then, and I'll continue to do the until she can fight for herself."

"Just the thought of your body with my come all over you is the hottest fucking thing you could have said. Fuck, Dee. You make me want to come all over your body so everyone knows you're mine."

Needless to say, this is another must read. I am absolutely in love with this series and all the different directions it keeps taking me. I'm impatiently waiting on Cooper to come out!

Meet the Author

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.

She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
