One More Day by M. Malone ~ Excerpt and Giveaway

BLURB:

"You're with the right person when no matter how bad things get, you'd still rather be with them than anywhere else..."

RIDLEY WELLS HAS NO idea what to do with her life now that she's graduated from college. But when a friend is murdered and her apartment is trashed, she runs to the only person she trusts, her twin sister. No one will think to look for her in the rinky dink Virginia town of New Haven.

Of course, her luck lands her passed out in the grass in front of resident badboy, music producer Jackson Alexander. Strike 1! Then she realizes Raina's out of the country and she has nowhere else to go. Strike 2!

So when the handsome producer with the platinum smile mistakes her for her sister, she gets an idea.

Where better to hide than in plain sight?

EXCERPT:

“YOU DIDN’T BRING your hot-ass sister with you?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Jackson Alexander dodged the punch that came sailing his way. A chorus of laughter rang out around him as he playacted dodging blows while his friend, Matt Simmons, growled at him.

“I should give you the ass-kicking you’ve been waiting for since freshman year.”

Matt shoved the side of his lawn chair and Jackson tumbled out. He was laughing so hard by the time he hit the ground that it barely hurt.

Hanging out with his boys was his new favorite way to spend his weekends. After producing several platinum albums, suddenly everyone—from the kid who’d sat behind him in high school English class, to the receptionist at his gym—wanted to be his best friend. Just a year earlier he wouldn’t have believed the things people would do for a piece of the spotlight. His real friends kept him sane.

Giving one of them a hard time was just part of the fun.

“Man, you know I’m just messing with you.” Jackson righted his chair and flopped back down. He kept a healthy distance from Matt though, just in case.

His brother, Nicholas, and their friend, Trent, stifled their laughter when Matt looked at them.

“You know we love Mara. Mainly because she keeps your crazy ass in line. She’s coming to the barbecue, right? Or is she visiting your parents for Memorial Day weekend?” Nicholas asked. That was his brother, always the mediator.

They could have passed for twins with their golden brown skin, dark eyes and curly black hair, but they couldn’t be more different in personality. Nicholas craved excitement whereas, more and more, Jackson just wanted solitude. It was hard to believe that his playboy brother was actually twenty-seven, two years older than he was.

Matt took a swig of the beer he held. He rolled it through his palms a few times before answering. “Ask Trent. He sees more of her these days than I do.”

All eyes swung to Trent. He shrugged but the look in his eyes was like that of a cornered animal. “She’s great. She said to tell everyone hi.”

Jackson picked up his lawn chair and then straddled it backward so he’d be facing the group. “Damn, you two aren’t just playing with me? If I’d known she wasn’t off limits…” He stopped at the murderous expression on Matt’s face.

Nicholas leaned over. “If I were you I wouldn’t finish that sentence.”

Jackson shook his head as he looked back at Matt. “You are pathetic. I was going to say I would have married her. Mara is one of a kind.”

Matt snorted. “You? Married?”

A hush fell over the group. Matt cleared his throat a few times before speaking. “Sorry, man. I shouldn’t have said that. I wasn’t thinking.”

“You aren’t saying anything that isn’t true. I’m glad for once you aren’t walking on eggshells around me.” Jackson looked pointedly at Matt, then the other guys in the group.

“I gave up my chance to have a solo career when Cynthia got pregnant. I’ll never regret that choice. She gave me the two best things in my life. I just wish she was here to see how amazing our boys are.”

He stopped, frightened for a moment that his throat would close and he’d confirm their image of him as the tragic, broken widower. He just felt such anger, such impotent rage, that one twist of fate could take away his entire world.

“It’s not too late. You could put out an album now,” Nick suggested.

“I could. But it would mean a lot of time on the road away from the kids. I’ve let that dream go and I’m okay with it. Producing may not have been my first love but it’s been good to me and I’m grateful. As for the marriage thing… Look, I know you guys think my life is just one party after another but I’m not making anyone any promises. I only date women who know the score and want the same thing I want. No strings and no drama.”

“You’re only twenty-five, Jack. You can’t think you’re going to be alone the rest of your life,” Nicholas pointed out.

“I loved Cynthia more than life and when she died… well, let’s just say I’m not signing up for that kind of pain ever again.”

It was so hard to remember his vibrant wife in that hospital bed, broken and bruised. Especially since he’d been as much at fault in the accident as the drunk driver who’d plowed his SUV into her car.

He’d gotten there before they wheeled her into surgery. There’d been just enough time to tell her how sorry he was and how much he loved her. She’d made him promise that no matter what happened, he wouldn’t stop living. For their boys’ sake, especially, that he not close himself off.

He ran a hand over his face wearily. It was the only time he’d ever consciously lied to her. But in that moment he’d have done anything, promised anything, to give her peace. Including the one thing he knew he couldn’t do.

Love again.

“So, anyway, my point is that it doesn’t make me an asshole because I’m not signing up for the whole ‘til death do us part deal again. I just don’t believe you can find that kind of connection more than once in a lifetime.”

He looked at the ground, not meeting anyone’s eyes. He couldn’t stand the looks of pity. He was a composer not a lyricist. He didn’t have words to describe what it felt like to have the perfect family and then have it ripped in pieces. All he had were emotions that made him feel about as big as an ant and a sense of humor to keep his mind off the things he couldn’t change.

He leaned closer to Matt. His friend clapped a hand on his shoulder, his expression grave. He almost hated to play a joke on him when he looked so serious but this conversation was way too kumbaya for his taste. And joking around was easier than putting his emotions on a platter for everyone to rifle through.

“But I would definitely make an exception for your sister because she is fine as hell!”

He barely had time to duck when Matt swung on him this time, but hearing his friends laugh was worth a few blows.

Excerpt

I stifled my unpleasant mood and plastered the best smile I could muster up on my face. “Listen, um…”

He crossed his arms across his clearly muscular chest with the book safely tucked under his left arm.

“Ben.” His tone indicated that he was less than impressed with my ploy and clearly saw right through what I was working at. I proceeded anyway.

“Ok. Ben. My name is Kat…”

“As in the animal?” He interjected.

“Um, no. As in Kathleen, Ben.” Now he had a smug look on his face like he was thoroughly pleased with the banter between us.

Alright jerk-wad. Keep it up and I’m going to snatch that book from under your arm and bolt for the cashier.

I held out my hand to him to shake. He looked down at my extended hand before him and quirked up and eyebrow to go along with his smug grin. He waited a moment too long to extend his own hand which I assume was to add insult to injury.

Nice! This guy just oozes chivalry.

“Nice to meet you Ben. Like I was saying my name is Kat. Surely I can convince you to hand over that book. I really need it. It’s kind of an emergency.” He crossed his arms over his chest again, and leaned one muscle capped shoulder against the wall with ankles crossed. Clearly he was getting comfortable for the show I was putting on.

Asshole!

“It’s highly doubtful that purchasing a book is some kind of emergency Kathleen.”

“No. It’s just Kat. K.A.T!!” I said impatiently.

“My apologies, Kathleen.” was his response to my clarification of my preferred name which he followed up with a simple arrogant smirk and nod. He was positively infuriating and purely male goodness.

What the fuck, guy?

“I’m sorry to say you’re going to have to do better than that since I too, need this book.”

You have GOT to be kidding me!

Kate, a no-nonsense bartender, must face her past while attempting to focus on her future.

Will life offer them a second chance at love or are old patterns simply too hard to break?

Champagne Toast

Excerpt

“Evan, can you help me?” Kate asks. She’s standing on her tiptoes, her t-shirt rising up her back, exposing her midsection. I do my best not to stare as I walk towards her. She glances back at me over her shoulder before continuing her request, “Vince put the spare key to his office on the highest shelf of the bar and I can’t reach it.” Her hair smells like strawberries.

“No problem,” I say, easily reaching the key. Just for fun, I dangle it above Kate’s head. She smirks at me, narrowing her eyes as if to say, ‘okay, let’s play.’

Grinning from ear to ear, I ask, “Oh, I’m sorry, can you still not reach them?” Whenever I’m near this woman, all I want to do is tease her, tease her so badly she can hardly contain herself. But, the result is that I can hardly contain myself. Tiny beads of sweat are building along my hairline as I twist the keychain back and forth between my fingers. Kate swats at the key and gives me a fake dirty look. I know her well enough to know she’s not upset at all.

“Ev, c’mon.” Yeah, that’s another thing. She started calling me Ev. It drives me crazy. I can’t take it! Every time she says it, I want to throw her up against the bar and kiss her hard, really hard. I want her all to myself, to make her mine, and yet when the fantasy is over I realize I can’t have her. Not yet.

“All right.” I hand her the keychain and give her a crafty wink. She gives a satisfied smile. “What do you need it for anyway?” I ask.

“I don’t.” She raises an eyebrow at me before walking away to take orders from a large table of college students. My jaw hits the floor as she saunters away, looking back with her signature tease of a grin. This girl is going to be the end of me.

Review:

I really enjoyed reading this book and The Bouquet Toss. Melissa writes books that are sweet, passionate, and have just the right amount of steam in them without being raunchy.  It's the perfect "chick flick" in a book.   I'm not gonna lie, I was not rooting for Kate and Evan at the start of the book because I felt so much of Evan's emotions having already meet him in the Bouquet Toss and falling hard for Evan. Seeing things from Kate's POV on their relationship quickly changed my mind, and  I starting crossing my fingers and toes and praying for their relationship to work out.  4 stars

The book is told in both Kate and Evan’s point of views and I really enjoyed being able to get in both character's heads while I'm reading a book.  Their story is told over a span of time from how they meet, fell in love, and the events that happened to eventually make things fall apart.

“That’s the thing about love — it’s full of possibilities. It can lead you down so many different paths. Sure, for some of us, it can lead to sadness and regret. But, for others, well, for others it can lead them to the greatest future they could’ve ever hoped for. Love is the most possible thing in the world.”

This is a beautifully written love story about second chances - a heartwarming love story that will pull at your heartstrings, make you teary eyed, break your heart, and then somehow put you back together again and make you feel complete. For those hopeless romantics out there, this book is for you.

Review:

Whew.....talk about a book that starts off with Fireworks and sucks you in right from the very first page....E.L. Montes sure knows how to write a prologue that will have you salivating for more! I could not put this book down once I started it!

Disastrous is the story of Mia Sullivan, a first year law student who lands an intern position, which is very rare for a first year law student at one the most prestigious law firms in Boston. Enter Marcus DeLuca; Sexy, mysterious, and the owner of the law firm that she will be working for. Through the course of the book Mia and Marcus develop an emotionally intense relationship that kept my stomach in knots and caused me to have some major anxiety, in a good way, like a GREAT story does! There were some twist and turns I saw coming and some I did not which is half of what kept me intrigued! I also thought the story line was different and fresh from any that I had seen in awhile.

I knew right from the start of this book that Disastrous was going to be a great debut novel for E.L. Montes! My calendar is marked and I am dying to read CAUTIOUS (Disastrous #2)! Seriously, make sure you read this book, you don't want to miss out :)

P.S. I need a shirt that says Marcus's future baby mama cause seriously that man is SMOKING HOT, and who doesn't like a smoking hot alpha male in their stories?

About the Author:

Emmy Montes was born in Puerto Rico but rasied in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She currently resides in Philadelphia with her husband, Alex, and their English bulldog. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies. She works full time as a paralegal for mid-size law firm. Although she loves the legal field, writing was always her passion.

Her first love for books began with the Goosebumps series as a child. After that she read anything and everything from poetry to short stories. She was passionate about the fictional world and intrigued by the way an author could pull you into a story with just simple words. As a hobby she started writing her own poetry, daily journal entries and short stories.

She actually dreamed of being a journalist and even went as far as researching colleges to earn a degree in Journalism. At the time, major newspaper companies and magazines were having budgets cut, and after careful thought she settled on another major. When she finished her degree, she felt like something was missing. She continued to write for several years, working on different story ideas, but never finished. Disastrous is her first novel. The sequel, Cautious, is due for release in May 2013.

Character Interview with Dom and Chantal

I am so excited to be doing my first character interview with Dom :) oh and Chantal too of course! I'm pretty sure I drooled when Dom walked in the door, he is so perfect *sigh* There couldn't be a more perfect guy to pop my character interview cherry ;)

(Spice) Welcome guys from Sugar and Spice, I'm so excited to have you here today!
Since it obviously has had its ups and downs, how do you guys feel about Nate’s and Skylar’s relationship?

(Chantal) I love them both, but I don’t know how to feel about their relationship. With everything that has happened to the both of them, (shaking her head) they just need to sort it out between them. I want them to be together; they are really good for each other and make each other very happy.

(Dom) Nate needs to pull his finger out of his ass, and stop the shit he’s been doing, other than that, they’re a great couple.

(Spice) How long have you guys known each other and how did you meet?

(Chantal) Well, we’ve known each other for 5 years now, and met at Joey’s one night, through a mutual friend.

(Dom) It was 6 years ago we met. (He looks over at Chantal) The first time I actually met Chantal was at a party that we both went to.

(Chantal) No we didn’t.

(Dom) Yes we did, you probably wouldn’t remember as you were drunk as a skunk that night and tried to get into my pants (He said laughing.)

(Chantal blushes)

(Spice) What qualities do you look for in a man/woman you would want to be in a relationship with?

(Chantal) Umm, well. (Looking around the room) one, I want someone that wants me for me, not to change me in any way. They need to be reliable, trustworthy, have a good heart and let me do my own thing. Looks aren’t everything, as long as they have those qualities, I’m good. (She smiles, then looks over at Dom)

(Dom) I want someone that is herself, in every way. (Running his fingers along Chantal’s shoulder) Someone that cooks, clean, (Chantal slaps him on his leg, grabbing her hand and placing it on his thigh Laughing), I’m joking. As long as she is herself, and doesn’t hid things from me, and has a nice rack, that’s all I need.

(Spice) *raises hands* I'm thinking to myself that I fit Dom's description perfectly.

(Spice) Since there is obviously chemistry between you two, any chance of a future hookup? Dom, if your answer to that is no, I am available anytime....just putting that our there.

(Chantal glances at Dom.)

(Dom) Well darling, I’ll leave my number for you, and we’ll get in touch. (Winking at you) (Chantal rips her hand off Dom’s thigh and crosses them over her chest and frowns) I’m not ready for a relationship right now. With my work schedule I don’t have time for it. But having some fun, yeah sure, won’t say no to that.

(Spice) *swooning*

(Dom reaches for Chantal’s hand again, but thinks twice at the look she is giving him)

(Chantal) There is chemistry between us, but that’s as far as it’s going to go.

(Spice) Dom since you are so big and muscular *winks* are you big everywhere? (*slaps myself* did I really just say that out loud?) Oops, What I meant to ask is what does your diet and fitness routine consist of? Chantal do you have a fitness regime you follow?

(Dom)    (Dom laughed, sits back and rubs the top of his thigh, near his crotch) (checking out the interviewer) Thanks darling, we can hookup and you can find out just how big. (winks at her) As to the diet and fitness routine. I eat what I want, I have a high metabolism, I work out every morning, running, swimming, weights, that’s it.

(Spice) *licks my lips* (thinking to myself good lord, this man is FINE!)

(Chantal) I watch what I eat most of the time, the only fitness I do is besides sex is yoga, that’s it. (She smiles)

(Spice) Obviously, with the way the book ended there will be a sequel. Can you give me a hint as to what the next book will be about and how big your roles will be in the next book?

(Dom) Both Chantal and I have a huge part in the next book. You will also find out what happens with Nate and Skylar and couple of the other guys. (Sitting back wrapping his arm around Chantal’s shoulder)

(Chantal) The next one is about us weather we hookup or not. And about Nate and Skylar and how that works out, I don’t want to give away too much.

Lightening round

(Spice) Favorite band?

(Chantal) Anything with a beat, love to dance.

(Dom) Don’t really have a favorite band, to many to pick from.

(Spice) Favorite drink?

(Chantal) anything with Vodka in it

(Dom) Rum

(Spice) On top or on the bottom?

(Dom) Either

(Chantal) Top is my favorite. (Dom groans)

(Spice) Favorite color?

(Chantal and Dom answer together) Red
These two really do belong together!

(Spice) Whipped cream or chocolate sauce?

(Dom) Both taste good together, especially on a female body, add strawberries it gets even better.

(Spice) Geesh, is it warm in here? *Fanning myself*

(Chantal) Chocolate sauce, it takes a lot longer to lick off. (Dom moves uncomfortably)

(Spice) Slow and steady or fast and Hard?

(Dom) Depends on the mood I’m in, but usually hard and fast and very deep.

(Spice) *coughs*

(Chantal, chokes) Either one (She whispers)

(Spice) Favorite food?

Racing on the Edge by Shey Stahl ~ Blog tour and Giveaway

Happy Hour Synopsis:

Between revving engines, smoking tires, and high speeds, two friends form a vital bond in the shadows of the blaring spotlight. Sway Reins, a track owner’s only daughter, and Jameson Riley, a gritty NASCAR rookie driver, have been best friends since they were kids. Over the years, Sway becomes his safety shield during his rapid rise to the elite levels of auto racing. A night of celebrating a victory leaves Sway believing that she can convince Jameson to fall in love with her. She becomes determined to be more than just a pit lizard trolling the pits. Little does she know that this steadfast racer has his own idea of revelry. Soon their compression ratios are timed exactly right and all the reciprocating motions have led them to happy hour. As their passion revs, the inner workings of an internal combustion engine have never been so erotic. Just a taste turns into a thirst neither of them saw coming. Can she convince this rookie he can have love and his dream?

Review:

I am not a fan of racing at all, but I had heard amazing things about this series and was really excited to join the blog tour and read the books when Kim from Kindlehooked asked us to join.  I am so glad I did, Shey has changed my view on racing and I loved these books and can't wait to finish the rest of the books in this series.  Every factor I love in a book was included; love, angst, drama, and humor. 4 stars!

Jameson Riley and Sway Reis have been best friends since an early age when they meet at her father’s race track. She is the only thing that is real in his life, and keeps him grounded as he rapidly rises through the racing ranks. Sway is in love with Jameson, she has been since the moment they meet but Jameson is a NASCAR rookie that is used to getting what he wants, women included. After a night of passion, they both let their guards down and admit they have sexual feelings for each other. They decide to stop thinking about the consequences and see where being "friends with benefits" leads them. Car terminology takes on a whole new mean in their sexual quest of each other, OMG I never knew the term camshaft could be so sexy! Jameson's lifestyle prohibits him from committing and things get complicated....can best friends really become lovers? Will their friendship survive and true love prevail?

I highly recommend this series, Happy Hour was phenomenal.  I laughed out loud so many times, cried, and had to fan myself to cool down from the steaminess between Jameson and Sway.  I even loved the secondary characters....Jameson's family was hilarious and the interactions between characters was so realistic.  If you haven't read this series yet you are really missing out, be sure to get your copies today!

My Misery Muse by Brei Betzold ~ Review

Sugar's review of My Misery Muse by Brei Betzold.

Product Details

Synopsis:

First young love gets sidetracked by dreams that take them on two different journeys, but an unknown bond brings them back together again. Devi Porter an up-and-coming tattoo artist and Seth a bassist for the popular band My Misery Muse. When Seth and Devi meet up again, they get reacquainted, and they both realize they have a lot to work out between themselves, that were never resolved. When life throws obstacles at them at every turn, are they able to overcome them to become the family neither really had?

Review:

Seems like the theme these days on new books, has to involve a "rock star".  I haven't a clue why, many authors must believe that having a rock star in their book, is a guaranteed seller. 'Rock star' burn-out has occurred, and authors should move on, in my opinion.

"My Misery Muse"'s storyline was more original than your norm rock star book. It didn't revolve totally on the rock star and his band. It was more about a girl and her current life, and how it had all changed three years earlier by falling in love with a rock star. Time passes, and they for them in their current stages of their different lives.

The story is told from both Seth's and Devi's POV. I enjoy reading both POV's in a book, my problem with "My Misery Muse" was there wasn't a "break" between different POV's. It literally jumped from one POV to the other character's POV, from one paragraph to the very next. Needless to say, it confused me big time. I would have preferred a new chapter from a different POV or at least a huge blank space on the page between different views. Some typos which can be easily fixed, but nothing to where it interfered with me reading it.

The characters of Seth and Devin I felt were "shallow". They would have been great with more spunk, sexiness, and a tad of mystery, anything that would have made them more interesting. The secondary characters were barely noticeable. I found the story slow at times, but in the end, everyone loves a HEA, which this book had.

The author has a great talent for writing, I just felt she needed to add more "intensity" to her storyline, something that makes a reader "dying" to get back in the book.

I gave "My Misery Muse" 3 stars and believe future reads from this author will just keep getting better.

Dirty Red by Tarryn Fisher ~ Review

Synopsis:

Dear Opportunist,

You thought you could take him from me, but you lost. Now, that he's mine I'll do anything to keep him. Do you doubt me? I have everything that was supposed to be yours. In case you were wondering; he doesn't ever think about you anymore. I won't let him go....ever.

Review:

Awhile back, I was introduced to The Opportunist by a friend I meet through a book blog. I immediately started this book and as I’m reading my first thoughts were, what is all the hype about? Well, as I neared the ending I soon found out! I could not believe the twist and turns this book took......the emotions, the angst, the tears I cried in vain! My heart was shredded, I still haven’t recovered.

So naturally, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Dirty Red and once I did my emotions were once again in chaos…..all I can say is I feel so “Dirty” and ashamed of myself…..I’m ashamed of myself for enjoying getting into Leah’s head and finding that I can understand her better and may actually like her just a “smidge”……oh, who the hell am I trying to kid? I really just hate her, with a passion!!!

Final thoughts:
Tarryn Fisher - you’re a genius! Thanks for once again messing with my mind, playing with my emotions, and once again leaving me emotionally drained!

Leah - STOP what you doing immediately and seek psychiatric treatment, you need it sista!

Caleb - while you still have your balls, before Leah gets her claws further into them, grow a bigger set and go get the love of your life back!

Olivia - I hope to see more of you in the next book and I really hope you get your HEA!

Noah - be ready to fight for your girl....I have a feeling it's gonna get ugly!

If you haven’t read this series it is a must read! It should be a requirement for everyone that loves Indie authors and books filled with emotion and angst. I can’t wait for the release of Thief. I will always be Team Olivia and Caleb Forever <3 some people are just destined to be together!

Cult of Beauty: The Secret Life of a Supermodel by KM Dylan ~ Review

Synopsis:

Supermodel Katie Wolfer takes a call from her stepfather as she steps off the Dior runway in Paris: her mother has died. As she struggles to move forward with her now-parentless life, two men loom large for Katie—Gavin Poole, a hot, emerging fashion designer with an inability to commit, and her charismatic, wealthy French stepfather, Daniel de Goncourt. Katie becomes entangled with both of them, exploring her darkest sexual desires amidst a lavish, decadent lifestyle.

Deeply erotic, thoughtful, and thrilling, this fashion model’s fictionalized memoir is sure to arouse and intrigue you.

Review:

OH MY......this was one hell of a HOT book, definitely unlike any other erotic books I have read. Honestly, there were points when I wasn't even sure what the story was about because all I could focus on was the sex, sex, and more sex but the storyline picked up about half way through the book. 3 stars

Cult of Beauty is about Katie, a supermodel who is not only beautiful but comfortable with her body and know's exactly what she wants and what her body desires. When Katie comes home to attend her mother's funeral, she goes on a erotic journey that involves women, college boys, and older gentlemen including her stepfather. It's an inside look into a world of sex, money, privilege, and fame that most of us will never get to see.

Like I said, it took a little while for this book to pick up for me but once it did, it sucked me right in. I was shocked and stunned with the ending, and K.M. left it hanging so I can't wait for book 2 to come out so I can find out what the heck happened, what Katie will be up to next, and who Katie will be doing next!

Synopsis:

A missed first encounter…

Colliding with a second chance…

On the heels of graduating college and trying to cope with her mother’s death, Emily Cooper moves to New York City for a fresh start.

While harboring secrets of his own, Dillon Parker takes care of Emily through her grief. Knowing he can’t live without her by his side, he’s sweet, thoughtful, and everything Emily has ever wanted in a man.

Until she meets Gavin Blake—a rich and notorious playboy who is dangerously sexy and charming as hell. Emily tries to deny the instant connection she feels, but Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome is not inclined to let go so easily. Recovering from his own painful past, Gavin will stop at nothing to win Emily over.

This unexpected encounter compels Emily to question her decisions, forcing her to make a choice that will destroy friendships, shatter hearts, and forever change her life.

Review:

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when Gail sent us an ARC of this book and we got to read it early.....I've said it before and I'll say it again, all I have to hear is love triangle and I'm instantly intrigued! Collide did not disappointment me....4.5 AMAZING, DRAMATIC, CRASHING, COLLIDING stars!

Emily Cooper upon graduation from college, moves to New York City to be closer to her boyfriend Dillon after her mother dies from cancer.  I think even then Emily questions her relationship with Dillion (with good cause) because she doesn't move in with Dillion but instead moves in with her best friend Olivia. Upon arrival in New York she lands a job at a Italian restaurant and by a chance encounter of fate meets Gavin Blake....and ladies hold onto your panties...Gavin is oh so yummy! He reminds of a cross of Ethan Blackstone and Gideon Cross! Now here is where things get interesting... Gavin and Emily have an instant connection, the pull between them is undeniable, the chemistry is unmistakable. Things get complicated and the consequences of Emily and Gavin's actions may be more than Emily is willing to risk.  Will Emily follow her heart and let true love prevail or will she listen to the voice of worry that is telling her the significance her decision can make on her and Gavin's lives and the lives of their friends.

Collide is a must read for 2013!! Gail has got a winner on her hands....this book has the "it" factor for me, it was soooo good.  I will tell you that I'm salivating for "Pulse" the sequel. When Collide ended I felt like I died a thousand deaths!! I screamed PLEASE NOOOOO to my kindle, I kept trying to turn the page of my kindle to no avail, I even messaged Gail and told her the ending killed me....Pulse is going on my list of most anticipated upcoming releases!

Oh and ladies, back up because Gavin Blake is all MINE ;)

Taste by Kate Evangelista ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Taste Blurb:

At Barinkoff Academy, there’s only one rule: no students on campus after curfew. Phoenix McKay soon finds out why when she is left behind at sunset. A group calling themselves night students threaten to taste her flesh until she is saved by a mysterious, alluring boy. With his pale skin, dark eyes, and mesmerizing voice, Demitri is both irresistible and impenetrable. He warns her to stay away from his dangerous world of flesh eaters. Unfortunately, the gorgeous and playful Luka has other plans.
When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy. Phoenix doesn’t realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud.

Review:

I'm gonna be honest, I was over the whole supernatural being stories and so over vampire stories, but I was intrigued with reading this book when I found out it was about zombies.  I am so glad I gave it a chance and read it......it was so good and kept me captivated through the entire book.

When Phoenix McKay finds outs why curfew is at sunset at Barinkoff Academy, she is intrigued. Phoenix finds a group of students walking the halls and finds herself in trouble.....basically she is about to become supper....they threaten to taste her flesh. Enter Demitri - he is handsome even beautiful and Phoenix finds herself attracted to her saviour. Phoenix gets sucked into their secret world and society and learns she may be the only thing that can save the Zhamvy's existence.

Kate has definitely got a talent for writing and even though this book is classified as YA there was enough sexual tension between Phoenix and Demitri to keep me interested.  There was even a bit of a love triangle involving Demitri's cousin Luka.  Great story, my only complaint....I thirsted for more! I don't think there is any plans for a sequel but I would really love to see Phoenix and Demitri's story continue.

EXCERPT:

"When are you going to forget about that? I made a mistake. I was hurt. Can you stop rehashing that? I’m sorry. I’ll be sorry for the rest of my life.”

I turned on my heels and went back to my bed. Before I sat down, I heard a thump behind me. My heart started beating rapidly, and I looked back startled, not knowing what to expect. Cole was on his knees. When I turned my body, he hugged my lower half and crushed his head against my abdomen.

“What the hell are you doing?” I asked while I tried to pry his arms off of me.

“Please forgive me, Blake. Please. I swear it only happened that one time. Then at the mall she kind of—”

“Kind of what?” I interrupted. “Kind of plunged her tongue into your mouth without you noticing?”

He groaned and held on tighter. “Blake, please. I was desperate for you. That was the first time I was going to see you after a while, and the last time I’d seen you, you killed me for the second time. I’m sorry if I made bad calls, but I was so fucking lonely and depressed and sick without you,” he pleaded.

I sighed. “It’s fine, Cole. I forgive you. Please get off of me. You’re still sleeping on the floor though.”

“Blake?” he whispered later when I thought he was asleep.

“What?”

“I love you more than you’ll ever know,” he said hoarsely.

I felt tears sting my eyes. “Go to sleep, Cole.”

Seth and Devi meet up again and both realize they have a lot to work out between themselves as well. As they get reacquainted life and obstacles are thrown at them at every turn, are they able to overcome them to become the family neither really had?

Excerpt:

“Fuck, who is she?” Xavier said.

I followed his line of sight and saw a girl with her back towards us, I would recognize her anywhere. I smiled, “That would be Devi.”

“No, that couldn’t be,” Xavier said. “Drake would never let her leave the house wearing something like that.”

I laughed, but couldn’t help myself feeling a little possessive. Damn, she looked good. She was wearing a long black skirt that reached the top of her boots and silver buckles down the front resembling a pair of bondage pants I have. The shiny black cloth that was her shirt looked to wrap around her neck but she had a long black scarf wrapped around it. I couldn’t tell, but the back was open and tied leaving her back bare, along with her ribs and the sides of her breasts. It stopped well before her skirt ended showing a sexy amount of toned stomach, the shirt perfectly showed off the tattoo that covered her back. She was always sexy, but tonight she had outdone herself. She glanced in my direction as if she could feel my stare on her, but couldn’t see me from where I stood. Jules, Cin, Mags, Drake, Cris, and Max stood with her all laughing, drinks in hand, looking like they were having a good time.

I walked out the back way from the stage and walked up behind her, and wrapped my arms around her. She melted instantly into my chest and raised her arms up so they looped behind my neck; I took the opportunity and nuzzled her neck.

“Hey baby,” I said in her ear.

She looked up at me and smiled, over the past few days we had decided to try and take things slowly and see where they lead. I couldn’t help but stake my claim on her tonight though. I had noticed one too many pairs of male eyes on her, so I kissed her deeply letting all the other men know she was mine.

“Did you get Jaks all squared away?” I asked when we broke off the kiss, she gave me a look saying she knew exactly what I was doing but I really didn’t care. I knew she had been nervous about leaving him over night with Cris’s mom. She had watched him for a few hours before, but he had only ever spent the night with Drake or Mags before.

She nodded. “When I left he was at her table drinking milk and eating homemade chocolate chip cookies,” she said in my ear, the only way to really hear over the noise.

I kissed the back of her neck and felt her responding shiver.

“I got to get back, but I’ll find you when we’re done,” I murmured against her ear.

“Alright, break a leg.”

I leaned down and captured her lips with mine, not leaving a part of her mouth unexplored, claiming her as mine.

“See you soon, baby,” I murmured against her lips before letting go, waving at everyone watching us and headed back to the band.

Running On Empty by L.B. Simmons ~ Event and Giveaway

Book Description:

I had the perfect life.

Beautiful and loving husband.

Three gorgeous little girls.

Successful career.

The only thing missing was the white picket fence. I really wanted that fence.

Three years ago, I lost that life. I lost my husband. And I lost myself. But, eventually, I found my way through the darkness. I’ve made peace with my new life. I have my girls, and that’s all that matters. They are my world. I have no illusions of ever falling in love again or getting whisked away on a white horse.

But then he came back into my life. On a freakin’ motorcycle.

Excerpt

I turn my hand over and stroke his cheek. He puts his head down and I force him to look at me again.

“Shh, Blake. That’s enough. I don’t want to hear any of that right now. Derek’s death was tragic. It was heartbreaking. It was too much for me some days. But you listen to me. There is nothing you could have done if you were here that would have protected me from that pain. You need to know that. You need to believe that. I’m not going to waste time rehashing this crap, especially now that I finally have you back in my life. It happened. It’s over. I’m fine. End of story. I refuse to listen to you tear yourself up over something you had no control over.”

He says nothing more. He just grabs my wrist and pulls my body into his, being careful not to hurt my hand. He rests his cheek on top of mine and whispers solemnly into my ear, “Never again, Alex. Never. Again.”

He leaves his cheek against mine and I feel his breath in my ear. He wraps his big arms around me and we stay like that for some time. The warmth from the closeness of our bodies and the heat of his breath in my ear cause my heart rate to triple. Yet, with my heart beating a million miles a minute, I feel a strange calm. I want to let go of everything. I want to sink my body into his and let him be strong for me. I want to let him take my pain, my sadness, my exhaustion…everything that keeps me from being truly happy. I want his arms to stay around me… his warmth and protection. But as a familiar lump forms in my throat, I know this will never happen.

I can’t allow it.

I won’t allow it.

Blake is more right than he could possibly know. Never. Again.
