Synopsis:
“I didn’t want the line to get blurry, and I sure as hell didn’t want you to cross it.”
Ronnie Clark, an edgy tattoo artist with hopes of high tailing it out of the forsaken Military town she followed her now ex-fiancé to, is counting down the days until Valentine’s Day is over. Ronnie doesn’t do romance. She doesn’t do flowers or dates, and she sure as hell doesn’t do love—not anymore. After her fiancé slept with a female solider while deployed, she has vowed never to fall in love again, especially with a soldier.
Sergeant First Class Kale Emerson is home on his mid-tour leave from Iraq, but he only has one thing on his mind—returning to his deployment to finish leading his soldiers on their mission. The last thing he wants is a relationship, but casual sex, that’s a different story. And when he meets the renowned tattoo artist Ronnie Clark, a snarky, blunt, takes no prisoners kind of woman, that seems to be all he can think about.
But when Kale realizes he has met his match with a bombshell woman who is hell bent against love, will just sex be enough? And if it’s not, will he be able to convince Ronnie that the proverbial hearts and flowers aren’t so bad after all, even if he is a soldier?
“You changed something inside me, something I didn’t ever think I would want, or feel—but you did, and now I can’t go back”
This book contains explicit sex scenes and is recommended for readers 18+
Teaser:
He wanted to pull her clothes from her body and bury himself inside her until she screamed his name and he passed out from pleasure, but he knew that he couldn’t; not yet at least. But making her scream out his name, that he could do right now.
Kale’s mouth traced over the side of her neck until it reached her ear. “I want to feel you,” he whispered, cupping her through her thin cotton pants.
Her breath hitched and he took it as a yes. He brushed his fingers over her smooth stomach, reveling in the feel of her body trembling from his touch. He slipped his hand under the waist of her pants and inched his hand down until it reached the warmth he was craving. He cursed to himself when he felt the small amount of lace that was covering her. He had an urge to slip those damn pants off her long legs so he could look at the tempting material that was covering so very little of her, but he knew he was bound to lose his control if his eyes were involved.
His thumb softly skimmed over the lace and he could feel how ready she was for him. He smiled against her neck, loving the way her body responded to him. He pushed the lace aside and gently slid his fingers inside her. He sucked in a breath when she instantly tightened around him. Damn, she felt good. It had been way too long since he had felt a woman’s body like this.
Ronnie’s head fell back and her body rocked against his hand as he rotated his fingers, finding the exact spot that seemed to drive her senseless. He stayed there, stroking her with the tips of his fingers, begging her to quiver beneath him.
Review:
Let me start out by saying I NEVER read novellas......not a fan at all, they are way to short and always leave me wanting more but I was intrigued by Kelsie's book. The first thing that caught my eye was the kick ass cover and then the story line, I hadn't read a book with a soldier in it since Dear John by Nicolas Sparks so I was really interested in ready this one and I was not disappointed!
This is the story of Ronnie a sexy, smart-mouthed, ball-busting tattoo artist who has been burned by her ex fiance, who just happens to be a soldier. Enter Kale who is a hot, pretty boy (compared to Captain America) and who also happens to be a soldier. Kale and Ronnie are enthralled with each other but Ronnie has her guard up and Kale has his work cut out for him to win this no-nonsense, take-charge girl over.....and man do I love a good chase!
This is a great debut novel for Kelsie. I just loved this story about moving forward, following your heart, and leaving yourself wide open.....you never know what possibilities may lie ahead. Oh....and I hear it on good authority that we may be seeing more of Ronnie and Kale and that makes me very, very, happy!
P.S. - Since reading Kelsie's novella I've read 2 more novella's so it looks like she's opened my eyes and changed my opinion about novella's.
