Relentless by Cassia Leo ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Book Description:

Claire Nixon is a twenty-year-old college dropout with a secret.

To Claire, Adam Parker is just another flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of college, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn’t succeed, she gets to keep her secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.

Claire thinks she has this one in the bag. She’s perfected the art of forgetting her past. But she isn’t prepared for Adam’s relentless pursuit or for him to share his own secrets. And she’s definitely not prepared for her rock star ex, and her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.

Excerpt

At exactly six in the evening, a knock comes at the door. I’m ready with my yellow bikini underneath my faded-blue Roxy T-shirt and a pair of white board shorts that I usually only wear around the house because they barely cover my ass, but Senia insisted I wear them. I’m excited. I’ve seen guys—hot guys—surfing at the beach dozens of times since I moved to Wrightsville Beach, but something about getting to see Adam out there gives me butterflies. I’m finally going to get to share his passion for the water with him. And enough time, and meditation, has passed between Saturday and today that I’m feeling a lot less guilty about leaving him hanging.

I open the door and Adam is leaning against the doorframe with one hand in the pocket of his board shorts. He’s shirtless so even when he looks up at me with those striking green eyes, all I can look at is his perfectly muscular chest.

“Are you ready to get tossed?”

“Is that a promise?” I say as I step outside.

He laughs as he throws his arms around my waist, lifts me off the ground, and kisses me. His lips are warm and soft as I take his bottom lip between my teeth.

He moans softly and I feel him stiffening against me. “You’d better stop that or I’m going to take you upstairs right now.”

I give him a soft peck on the lips then tighten my arms around his neck as I lay my head on his shoulder. He squeezes me tightly and I sigh. This is the best hug I’ve gotten in months. He finally sets me down and cradles my face as he kisses both my eyelids.

“Thanks for coming with me.”

I grin uncontrollably because something has shifted between us. Something magical is happening. I feel deliriously happy for the first time since Chris left.

Review

4.5 glorious stars. Hallelujah!! Thank you Buddha, Mohammad and the great and powerful Oz. Relentless more then made up for my recent book slump. This book was the shit yo! I'm the type of girl that knows what I like. I don't go back and forth and back and forth all while cursing the skies. 1st chapter was all it took for me to know that I was going to love this book. And did I love it. I loved the shit out of it! The first chapter opens with our main heroine Claire having a flashback. I cried. I'm not joking you I seriously cried! Then the funniest thing happens and I laugh my ass off. And this pretty much is how the whole story goes. You want to know what Claire's big secret is so bad you can literally taste all the angst!! And Adam Parker. Seriously he was the most lovable character. I'm deadly serious when I say that the first scene he was in it was over, I was in heartbreak hotel already singing the blues with how much I love him. He had some issues but not enough to make him crazy. His story sort of felt forced like because Claire has all this shit she is hiding and got going on so did Adam. I guess it gave him flaws, but at this point they really had no effect on the story. Sort of like male nipples, useless. But it didn't matter because Adam was just awesome. I loved the world that Cassia Leo painted for us. It was the perfect mix of just enough of all the ingredients that make a great book. But why not 5 stars then you ask? Well like I said before I'm a girl that knows what I like. I'm also a girl that knows what I don't like. And my personal dislike for any kind of drug is something I most def don't like in my books. And I thought Claire was on board with me but apparently I was wrong. So yes he smokes pot and yes I dislike it that much. It didn't serve any purpose at all. Drinking would have served the same purpose. Anywho my personal gripe aside I can't say that I wouldn't shout in everyone's face that they need to read this book right the eff now! And you know what should persuade y'all even more? This book reminded me a lot of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. And of course every one loved that book so when you connect the dots... You'll love Relentless. But be heavily warned this book does not Conclude Claire and Adam's story.
