Kayla seems to have it all. She has a wonderful man who would go to the ends of the earth for her and a family that seems to support her regardless of the consequences.
But is it enough to help her face her demons and to truly find happiness within her heart?
Madison never thought he would be faced with so many life altering decisions at such a young age. he wants to do right by Kayla and his family, but when old wounds reopen he finds himself questioning every choice he has ever made.
Life isn't all it seems for these two and they're coming to the realization that there will always be someone wanting to come along and destroy it all.
Will following her heart prove to be the right decision, or will it be the one thing that could make the only man she's ever loved, say good-bye for good?
I found myself pressing my hands against the cool glass on my window as I watched her and Cami walking by. I could feel her pull to me. I could feel her heart hurting for me, just as my heart hurt for her. When she glanced up at me, I quickly turned off my light and settled in for a long nights rest. I was overwhelmed with the events of today and yesterday. My life was beginning to get beyond complicated, and I could feel myself getting to the edge of never. Everything inside of me was tellin' me to jump. To just let go and let everyone else deal with the consequences, but I couldn't. I wouldn't in a million years ever put Kayla through that. She deserved me at my best and damn it if I wasn't willing to prove that to her.
Kayla James & Madison Raine haven’t known each other for very long & have fallen in love. These two have been through a lot of heartache, feeling unwanted & pain in their young lives. They are being cared for & raised by their grandparents and finally feeling that there’s hope for feeling loved & giving it back.
This is the 3rd book in the series and continues with Madison dealing with the death of his grandfather, Kayla’s shocking news, Madison’s father showing up & someone who’s from Kayla’s past (this was an unexpected surprise for me). There are a lot of events/happenings in this story. But Madison will do anything to protect Kayla at all costs, even if it means he gets hurt.
I’m not sure that I enjoyed this book as much as the first two. At times, I just wanted to smack Kayla & tell her to grow up. Geez…..she’s almost 18 years old, a senior in high school & I found some of the things coming out of her mouth childish and annoying. Madison has grown up ( I love this guy) & will do anything to protect her from harm, even if it means that he might be in danger himself.
I still love the secondary characters who are like the sprinkles on an ice cream cone. Yeah, you can have a good treat with just an ice cream cone…..but add the sprinkles & it just makes it a little better. You’ve got Madison’s grandmother, Kayla’s grandparents, Cami (Kayla’s BF) , Glenn (Madison’s BF) & let’s not forget Joey (Glenn’s younger brother) who Madison comes to rely on.
With all this being said…..I did enjoy this book. I believe I found that I got my satisfaction/true enjoyment when I was 2/3 of the way throught it. If you’ve read “This Love of Mine” #1 & “This Trust of Mine” #2, you will want to read this book. Even if you haven’t started this series, don’t hesitate to do so. I found a lot to enjoy while reading about Kayla & Madison!
