Twenty year old Lane Montgomery never imagined her usually boring summer in the boonies would require her to trade her toe shoes for hunting boots or her monotonous college textbooks for treasure map deciphering. Never would she have imagined after breaking her grandmother’s precious Native American statue, danger, a lost treasure of Cherokee Gold and a hostage situation would arise. Nor could she predict that the one man destined to protect her and her family was her childhood nemesis and former crush, Maddox Diaz.
Returning after three years in the Army, twenty-three year old Maddox Diaz is confronted with more than he bargained for when agreeing to help his childhood buddy and deepest regret, Lane. Suddenly he is thrust into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with armed and ruthless treasure seekers that results in car chases and gun battles all in the presence of the one girl who still manages to haunt his dreams and drive him wild with desire.
Lane is determined to deny the sizzling chemistry with the man who stole her virginity and broke her heart. She just wants to stay alive with her heart intact. Will she be able to resist the man whose body sets fire to all her senses?

Adventure……history….a broken heart….seeing the guy again that broke it…misunderstandings….healing old wounds…and suspense.
This story had it all.
Lane Montgomery’s summer break isn’t what she expected. She thinks that she will be spending her summer working with Maudie helping out at the country store. Little does she know that her summer won’t be spent doing what she’s done in summers past. Lane sees Maddox Diaz again at the store. She hasn’t seen him in over three years, since he left her with a broken heart. Maddox has returned to Ellijay after serving in the Army. Can Lane move past the hurt??
Lane & Maddox end up running for their lives when a treasure hunter tries to get back a very old Indian painting that Maudie purchased at an auction. Does the old map found hidden in the frame really show where gold was buried hundreds of years ago?? Does Lane break down the wall she’s built around her broken heart & find out why Maddox left her the way he did??
They lead the bad guys on a wild chase in searching for this treasure buried long ago. There are a lot of close, barely escaping with their lives moments. And plenty of re-living childhood memories, re-discovering their friendship, feelings and learning new things about each other. This was a sweet, exciting enjoyable book to read. I liked the past affecting today factor with how life was for the Indians that lived years ago.
