Review

I was intrigued by the premises and title of this book but the story was just okay. It didn't really hold my attention, I didn't connect with the characters, and it was too wordy.....I just felt like something was missing. That being said, it was well written and the editing was good, so I am going to base some of my rating on that. 2.5 - 3 stars

Serena is a photographer who just left her hometown and a passionless relationship with her childhood sweetheart. She was adopted by a family who should have never been aloud to keep her. Serena's family didn't loved her and abused her, so she's felt unloved and unwanted for many years. Upon arrival in town to stay with her cousin, she meets Gustav.  Gustav is a rich older man who has suffered from a previous relationship as well. The two have an instant chemistry and are instantly drawn to each other.

Gustav owns his own gallery and he has a proposition for Serena, he will help sell her photos in exchange for sex. Even though Serena is young and inexperienced, she is definitely interested and attracted to Gutav. The offer is really more than Serena can refuse...a chance to advance her career and spend time with this handsome, older experienced man who can help her fulfill her fantasies.  This begins their relationship which in all honesty was just kind of strange, Gustav is constantly leaving Serena alone and I didn't get the whole "Silver Chain" part.  There are several things revealed as Gustav's past threatens to tear their relationship apart and the story ends on a cliffhanger.

Overall, the book wasn't horrible, it just wasn't for me. Maybe in the next installment things will smooth out, connections with the characters will grow, and the story line will improve. Everyone experiences a book different when they read, I think there will be some people who really enjoy this book, it just wasn't one of my favorites.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.
