I loved HIM! This book is a well-written love story and I have to call attention to the "catchy" title and the cover of this book.....absolutely adore both! Another thing that I really enjoyed is that Carey has written this book in the past and present so we get an in-depth history between Sarah and Will! 4 stars
After being on her own for seven years, Sarah returns home for her brother's wedding, only to find Will right in the mix of things - he's now like the other sibling in her family. When and how the hell did that happen? Sarah soon realizes that avoiding Will during wedding-week isn't going to be as easy as she'd hoped. Will is her brother's best friend, and you know what best friend means? Yup! Best man. Oh, Sarah.
Author, Carey Heywood, writes Him in such a way that the reader is in the present, but also has a window into the past. It takes nearly the entire length of the book to chronicle Sarah's week-long visit, including Will's repeated attempts to reconnect and understand why she left, and Sarah's overwhelming urge to run away again, go back to the life she's created, and avoid all the painful memories she has tried for seven years to forget. I'm proud of my girl, Sarah, though. In true pioneer fashion, she faces her fears and hurt courageously and honestly.
Him is not high-energy or high angst. Rather, it's a lovely story of first love, first broken heart, and what it really means to go back home. There are no steamy love scenes, but there's definitely a healthy dose of sexual tension.
Him is told from Sarah's perspective. Her, Will's perspective, is expected to release in November, and hopefully will reveal an ending to Will and Sarah's story.
