Remember When by T. Torrest ~ Review and Giveaway

Synopsis

Ever wonder how often Brad Pitt's high school girlfriend must ponder jumping off a bridge? Ever think about the girl that had her hooks in George Clooney before he took off for TV stardom? How about Leonardo DiCaprio's ex, or Johnny Depp's first groupie, or any number of young women who got left behind when their boyfriends set off for greener pastures and eventually achieved unfathomable Hollywood fame?

My name is Layla Warren and I don't need to wonder about any of those things. I already know. Because years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen sitting in the desk behind me in my high school English class.

This was back in 1990, and I cite the year only to avoid dumbfounding you when references to big hair or stretch pants are mentioned. Although, come to think of it, I am from New Jersey, which may serve as explanation enough. We were teenagers then, way back in a time before anyone, himself included, could even dream he'd turn into the Hollywood commodity that he is today.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you who Trip Wiley is. But on the off chance you've been living under a rock for the past decade, just know that these days, he's the bad boy actor found at the top of every casting director's wish list. He's incredibly talented and insanely gorgeous, the combination of which has made him very rich, very famous and very desirable.

And not just to casting directors, either.

I can't confirm any of the gossip from his early years out in Tinseltown, but based on what I knew of his life before he was famous, I can tell you that the idea of Girls-Throwing-Themselves-At-Trip is not a new concept.

I should know. I was one of them.

And my life hasn't been the same since.

**Author's Note: Remember When is the first book in a romance trilogy. It is intended for mature teen readers and immature adult readers due to some high school sex scenes, underage drinking, questionable language and 1980s flashbacks.**

Review

This is a sweet, fun, sassy, enjoyable read and honestly this book is NOT getting the recognition it deserves. I think with a re-vamping of the cover and blurb the author could really catch more attention with the book because if you haven't read it you are missing out on a great book! I caught myself laughing out loud several times to references from the 80's and 90's from the banana clips, spandex, aqua net, and New Kids on the Block and then there was the heroines feisty comeback remarks that had me chuckling out loud! I read this book straight through and did not want to put it down. I need book #2 in my hands like yesterday! 4.5 stars

The blurb to me was kind of confusing, you know that Trip is a big Hollywood star but book 1 is really not touching on that. From what I am gathering from the author there will be three books in this series that will revolve around Trip and Layla's on again off again relationship over many years. This first book is the telling of how they first meet, it's their senior year of high school......the telling of the relationship that develops between them leading up until Layla heads off to College.  I don't want to give too much of the story away but Trip is gonna be another book boyfriend that steals our hearts, seriously I cried at the end when Layla read the letter Trip wrote her when he first meet her in class. *Swoon* Then the ending....Gah that ending...not a cliffhanger per say but made you want book 2 in your hands immediately.

“Be happy. And know that I’ll be thinking of you.” At that he bent his face to mine and I let him kiss me.

I adored Remember When......it made me feel nostalgic...like I was taking my own trip down memory lane with Layla and Trip and re-living my high school days. This book is a must read for all you lovers of chick-lit!

  1. My crushes from childhood are too many to list, but if I had to just pick a few I would have to say I loved Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. I grew up with all their major movies, my favorites being License to Drive, Goonies, and of course Lost Boys and Dream a little Dream. I also loved Brian Bloom because no one had stunning blue eyes like him!

  2. Thank you for the review on this book. It sounds like a great story to read. I agree, sometimes the covers just do not do the book justice. This is going on my TBRs. Now, for crushes, Rob Lowe, Leif Garrett, David Cassidy, & Rick Springfield.

  3. I had a pretty big crush on Thomas Ian Nicholas. A friend and I even sent him fan mail with pictures included. I guess we thought he was going to take time out of his busy acting schedule to pay us a visit. Lol!
