Worth the Chance by Vi Keeland ~ Release Day Review and Giveaway

Blurb

Meet Liv Michaels

It may have been seven years, but I’d know him anywhere. Sure, he’s grown, filled out in all the right places, but his captivating blue eyes and cocky grin are exactly the way I remember. Even though I’d much rather forget.

Liv Michaels is almost there. She’s smart, determined and weeks away from landing the job she’s dreamed about for years. Time healed old wounds, even her broken heart from the devastation of being crushed by her first love.

Meet Vince Stone

Women love a fighter, especially a good one. Lucky for me, I’m damn good. But there’s one woman that isn’t interested. Not again, anyway.

Vince ‘The Invincible’ Stone is every woman’s fantasy…strong, sexy, confident and completely in control. Growing up surrounded by chaos, he’s learned never to get too attached. Love will drag you down. He adores women, treats them well, puts their own needs before his own…for the night anyway. With the biggest fight of his life coming up, his focus should be on training.

When fate brings Vince & Liv back together again, there’s no denying the chemistry is still there. But can Vince erase the old scars their past left behind? Or will Liv hurt him instead?

4.5 Stars

This is Vinny Stonetti aka Vince "The Invincible" Stone's story.  We first were introduced to Vinny when he appeared in Worth the Fight at the age of 13.

Well, I have to tell you, I freakin' loved this story.  Wasn't sure if I'd like present & past POVs from both the main characters or not. But surprisingly, I did. It helped give me a better understanding of the way Vinny & Olivia Michaels thought at these different times and what was running through their heads.

Vinny is an MMA fighter & Olivia is interning at the Daily Sun TImes and is one of two vying for the writer position.  These two have a history. She had a secret crush on him in grade school & then in high school she was his English tutor because he was failing.  Now, seven years later, she's assigned to write a story on an MMA fighter.  His name is a little different from when she knew him, so she is caught off guard when she shows up at the gym.

Vinny didn't feel like he was good enough for Liv.  He just didn't trust himself not to hurt her.  He had a tough childhood and is still trying to fix things even as an adult.  And now, with Liv walking back into his life, he's even more unsure of what he can offer her.  He wants her.  The attraction is still there.  But he doesn't want to bring her down.  You can almost feel the chemistry jumping around on the pages as you read.  Vinny has issues, but nothing he cannot overcome.

Now it's time to pick up the pieces. Liv was hurt when Vinny never came back after leaving high school. She's still a little afraid of him hurting her again.  What surprises her and helps some of the walls around her heart come down are all the things he remembers from their times together in the past.  He remembers everything about her, her favorite foods, the music she listened to, how she rewrote her own endings to the classics and her dream of becoming a writer.

Even after all these years apart, Liv still finds herself attracted to Vince. Damn, how could you not??  I loved her cautious side, but I cheered her on when she finally gave in & said "The hell with it."  Ally, Liv's best friend since grade school & present roommate is the kind of girl we all want to have at our side. She knows Liv was heartbroken when Vince left after high school, and she listens and gives her honest opinions on what Liv shares with her.  I found myself smiling often when these two girls were together.

This story pulled me in.  I loved the way Vi plotted out this story.  Every page tugged & squeezed my heart.  I also really liked having Elle and Nico woven in from "Worth the Fight (MMA Fighter #1)".  They have been and are an important part of Vince's life now.  When I pick up a book to read, I want to get lost in between the pages and forget about everything else going on around me. Yup, I got that with this one. While it's about two lost loves, there's suspense and secrets that can tear someone apart with alot of steamy sex woven in.  I also felt like Vi was painting a picture and I could see and feel what was going on.  These are the kind of books that give me the ultimate reader experience.  I had up and down emotions that ran through me as I went along on Vince and Liv's journey to possibly having a HEA.  When the walls started falling from around their hearts and they took a chance on love, made it through the rough patch, it was like hitting the jackpot.

This can be read as a stand alone. But if you enjoy this story as much as I did, you'll want to read "Worth the Fight" (MMA Fighter #1) to learn more about Elle and Nico's story.

Some of my favorite quotes.......

"Why?"  I ask
"Why what?" Vinny's thumb strokes along the back of my neck gently as he speaks. "Why didn't you kiss me?  Why did you make me kiss you first?"
"I was giving you time to say no."  He smiles at me with a cocky smile.  "Even though I knew you wanted to.  I didn't know if you were ready for me."

"Guess you have to decide.  Is he worth the chance?  The chance that maybe if you let him in, he'll stay this time?" ~ Ally

"Trust me about one thing, Liv...whatever is going on between us, it's going to happen.  You can make it as difficult as you want, but we Liv, are going to happen.  Neither one of us can stop it." ~ Vince

"Jeez, Ally, he's just so...so...intense.  It's like he can see right through me.  There's nowhere to hide." ~ Liv

I look forward to reading alot more from this author. I recommend reading her books!
