Blurb

Katie’s world came crashing down in an instant.

Her husband, daughter, and unborn baby. . . all gone in a flash. The life that she’d come to know, gone before she ever really got to live it.

With a broken heart, she deals the only way she knows how, by shutting it all off. No communicating, no feelings, just pure nothingness.

Alone with nothing but her own thoughts and a well meaning family, she moves back to her childhood home, a horse farm. It’s there that she finds herself healing along with the horses her family rehabilitates. But when Parker McKenzie comes back into her life she’s reminded of all that went wrong, and all that she lost.

Will Katie ever begin to heal? Or will her secrets and loss be too much for her to overcome?

Perhaps, this is her kismet.

Review

4 *Oh my goddddd!!* Stars!

Ughhhh. Kismet is one of those books that I can't really review without giving a lot away, but let me tell you this-you have to read it, and when you do, buy a box of tissues first!

Kismet is follows Katie as her world crumbles around her. A tragic accident causes her to lose her husband, daughter, and unborn child in the blink of an eye; leaving her completely broken. Katie shuts down completely, becoming nothing but a shell with absolutely no glimmer of life shining through.
After physically healing, Katie moves back to her family home to begin the process of emotionally healing. Not feeling worthy of being happy, Katie remains isolated, distraught, and distant from all those who love her.

Parker McKenzie was Katie's rock growing up. Throughout their childhood he was her best friend, first crush, and first love. When he saunters back into her life at the lowest part of her life, she is more confused then ever at her lingering feelings.

Will Katie heal being surrounded by love? Will her and Parker rekindle their once upon a time romance? Is she meant to be happy? Or is this her Kismet?

This book was SO EMOTIONALLY DRAINING. I felt Katie's emotions so much I could have sworn that I was the one going through them. Throughout the book I cried, then I felt angry at both characters. Both stubborn and not moving on from the past actions in their lives.

So without giving too much away let me just tell ya, read the book. But go buy a big box of tissues. There are a lot of "wtf" moments that make me wonder how much one person can go through, and a lot of "why is this author trying to depress me" moments-but they were all totally worth it. After I finished the book I couldn't help but think "did that really just happen?!" and I have to admit I feel a little cheated-it's not how I wanted it to end. Overall it was a good, quick read and I totally recommended it.
