Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Blurb:

Can true love be built on lies? A teen on the run seeks relief and redemption in this gripping, romantic read.

Leah Kurtz has finally found a place to call home, a town where she and baby Addy can live in peace, far from the drug-infested place she grew up. Chris is one of the best parts of her new life, the only person who’s ever made her feel safe. And now that she’s found him, there’s no way she can tell the truth:

Her real name is Faith, not Leah. She’s seventeen, not nineteen. And the baby isn’t hers—Faith kidnapped her.

Faith’s history catches up with her when a cop starts asking questions and Chris’s aunt spots her picture in the newspaper. She knows it’s time to run again, but if Faith leaves, she’ll lose Chris. If Chris is in love with a lie, though, did Faith ever really have him in the first place?

Excerpt

Without having anywhere else to go, I drive to Jasper, past our new house. Addy isn’t screaming anymore, but her sleep is restless. Every once in a while, she lets out a shriek.

I slow the car as we approach 356 Maple Street. The lights upstairs in our room are on. A shadow passes the window, and I strain to see inside. Chris comes into view. His hair’s pulled back. He’s shirtless, and there’s a paintbrush in his hand.

I stop at the curb and watch, hoping he won’t look out and see the car. He’s singing, and every once in a while uses the paintbrush as a microphone.

I laugh, and it echoes through the car. Addy shifts in her car seat, but stays asleep.

Chris bends, disappearing from sight for a second, then straightens and raises a Coke can to his lips as he wipes his sweaty chest with a white paint rag. A tool belt hugs his hips.

I feel hot all of a sudden and crack my window. My forehead’s slick, and I wipe it with the bottom of his t-shirt. I don’t want to leave, but the longer I stay, the higher my chances of being caught spying on him.

Review

This is just one of those stories were you feel and hope for the characters, it's YA so it's not all sexed up. A beautiful story of one sisters hope of making a better life for her baby sister and acting on those impulses, yet going about it the wrong way, but in all the chaos finding something beautiful in her journey....love. 4 stars!

"Addy," I whisper. Once you name it, it's yours. Someone said that once. I don't remember who, but it's true. I named her. She's mine."

Growing up with a junkie and a whore for a mom, to say Faith and Hope had a rough life would be putting it midly. Faith who is 16 years old saves every penny with hopes of buiding her own life and escaping her mother's prison of a home once she graduates. Hope, her oldest sister has a wonderful boyfriend and is set to go to OSU soon on a scholarship and Faith just can't fathom the idea of being left alone with her cracked out mother. When her mother gets pregnant by a drug dealer for a large payoff for the baby, Faith just can't let her baby sister grow up in that type of enviroment, she wants better for her...better than what she had. So, Faith schemes and steals her mothers money ticket, the baby who Faith has named Addy and she flees with her leaving all the crap and drama behind and starting a new life and a new future with Addy. She changes her name to Leah and claims Addy as her own. Leah has no idea how to be a mother but then she meets a family that takes her under their wings...gives her a home, a job and Chris but Leah is hiding secrets from them. There she finally sees everything she ever wanted and wished for...a chance to fall in love and have a real family. Can all of Leah's hope and dreams come true? Can she an Addy have a happy life or will the past and secrets catch up with them?

"I need to be close to him. I need to feel him against me. I need to remember how it feels forever."

A beautiful, heartfelt, emotional story, that I loved. I haven't felt this way about a book in along time, it's just one of those stories I will never forget. My only complaint is the open ending, the story is not finished...I need more! After I finished, I searched the internet and looks like we will at least be getting a novella to follow up this book. I can't wait to see what is next for Faith, Chris, and Addy.
