Blurb

Junior in college. Star athlete. Constant attention from the opposite sex.

On this campus, I’m worshiped. While seven hundred miles away, back in my hometown, I’m still trailer park trash, child of the town tramp, and older sibling to three kids who are counting on me to keep my shit together so I can take them away from the same crappy life I grew up in.

These two opposing sides of myself never mix until one person gets a glimpse of the true me. I never expected to connect with anyone like this or want more beyond one night. This may be the real deal.

Problem is, Dr. Kavanagh’s my literature professor.

If I start anything with a teacher and we’re caught together, I might as well kiss my entire future goodbye, as well as my family’s, and especially Dr. Kavanagh’s. Except sometimes love is worth risking everything. Or at least, it damn well better be because I can only resist so much.

"It's always the one you shouldn't want that you end up wanting the most." ~ Lowe
Forbidden love.  But this one I was routing for.  Noel isn't making the grade in his college lit class. He's not happy with his latest grade & needs to pass this class to keep his football scholarship. He not only has himself to think about while attending college, working & being the star quarterback with a chance for more.  He's also trying to provide a better life for his younger sister and brothers who still live miles away back home.  And that's what drives him to not give up & confront his professor. Noel is a survivor and doesn't take the easy route as some might in his position. He wants to earn it. I admired his strength, determination and character. So he gets another chance to bring his grade up by writing another paper.
Aspen is a very young professor and is proud that she's where she's at in her life. She's worked hard to get there. She's tough and literature is her life. It's what I felt helped her survive unloving parents and her childhood.  While we all know that certain feelings/attraction is taboo, I wanted the connection between these two. Are the risks worth it? I thought so. They seemed to make each other whole. Their relationship developed slowly, like painting a beautiful picture. I couldn't wait to see if things would work between Aspen and Noel because they had everything going against them from the beginning.
The storyline development was done just right.  Loved the sub characters and the family pull. I had a hard time putting this book down, the few times that I did. I really loved the quotes throughout the book, too. Aspen had some issues with Noel that reminded her of her past. But once she got over that hurdle, she saw more in Noel than what she originally thought. It's a romantic story with some bumps along the way, learning to open yourself up, putting other people first and just plain taking a chance when you know from the beginning that it's all wrong.
This book gave me everything I want when I open a book.......pure enjoyment, heart palpitations, smiles, great characters to fall in love with and not wanting to put it down. I recommend putting this book on your TBRs.
