Blurb

As Reapers Motorcycle Club president, Reese “Picnic” Hayes has given his entire life to the club. After losing his wife, he knew he’d never love another woman. And with two daughters to raise and a club to manage, that was just fine with him. These days, Reese keeps his relationships free and easy—he definitely doesn’t want to waste his time on a glorified cleaning lady like London Armstrong.

Too bad he’s completely obsessed with her.

Besides running her own business, London’s got her junkie cousin’s daughter to look after—a more reckless than average eighteen-year-old. Sure she’s attracted to the Reapers’ president, but she’s not stupid. Reese Hayes is a criminal and a thug. But when her young cousin gets caught up with a ruthless drug cartel, Reese might be the only man who can help her. Now London has to make the hardest decision of her life—how far will she go to save her family?

Excerpts

#ONE

“Okay, let’s get some shit straight and then you can head out.” Great, here it came. The Talk. Fortunately I was ahead of him for once.

“Don’t worry, Reese. I know this was just a one-off for you, and that you don’t want a relationship. That’s what I needed, too, so in a way it’s perfect. No harm, no foul. We can just pretend this never happened.”

A scowl covered his face. “What the fuck are you talking about?”

“Us. Or rather, the fact that there isn’t an ‘us.’ I get it—you like to sleep around. I had a good time, but I’m not expecting a ring or anything.”

His eyes widened, and I smirked.

“Although I’ll be around if you want another booty call,” I added slyly.

Yay me! I’m a sophisticated woman who knows the difference between love and sex.

Reese’s scowl grew deeper, and then suddenly he moved and I was under him, pinned down against the bed. He pulled my hands up, holding them prisoner above my head.

“Are you fucked in the head?” he demanded harshly. “You get laid for the first time in years, it’s phenomenal—”

“Well, aren’t you the modest one?”

“It’s phenomenal,” he repeated, emphasizing the word heavily. “And now you’re just going to ignore me? I am not fuckin’ down with that.”

Review

I am a super huge fan of this series and Reaper’s Stand is no exception.  While I did have a few little issues with this particular book….mainly the characters and their decisions, and my dislike of certain characters, it didn’t stop me from becoming totally engrossed in the story and devouring the book in one sitting.  4 stars.

 [PUCK! (hide spoiler)]

There's something about you, London, something that's real in a way I can't even begin to explain. I like it and I want it.

London catches Picnic’s attention right away.  Yet, she’s nothing like the women he is used to being attracted to.  She lives her life with one purpose, to support herself and her niece Jessica.  She owns the cleaning service that handles most of the Reaper's business and that is how her and Picnic meet.  She can’t help but feel the attraction to Picnic also, even if he is an arrogant prick.  When Picnic offers London an offer she can’t refuse, it’s not long before she is doing much more than cleaning his house.  But Jessica gets herself in some trouble that London gets caught up in, and London doesn’t think that she has a choice in what she needs to do to save her niece….lies, betrayal, and secrets are all revealed and not easily forgiven. Who will come out on top? Read on to find out….

"Now it was just London and me. Felt good."

Like I mentioned above, I am a super fan of this MC series.  Joanna is such a classy writer, and I love how she doesn’t let this MC series veer off too much into the disturbing and gritting.  Oh, and the Epilogue set it up perfectly so I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series!

Promise Me This by Christina Lee ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Book Info:

A new love will test the boundaries of passion between a privileged boy next door and the tattooed, blue-haired girl who helps him embrace his wild side...

Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate’s family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate’s been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can’t help himself around one girl…

Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can’t resist getting close to her, even if it’s strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly.

With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he’s always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart.

Review

I liked this story, it was a little predictable, no major plot twists, but you know what? That’s okay, because I liked the characters and the story was steamy as heck! I loved the good guy/bad girl theme and I devoured the book in one sitting. Overall, a 4 star read for me.

Nate and Jessie are friends, strictly friends. Jessie has always been Nate’s “safe girl”, the girl he can talk to, have fun with and not have to worry about having sex with, besides they are complete opposites. Nate uses sex as a release, and never sleeps with the same girl twice. His family life looks perfect on the outside, but it is less than perfect. There is a history of abuse, and Nate is haunted by it, that’s why he uses sex as a means to cope. When Nate’s fantasies in the bedroom lead him to a darker side of himself it scares him…makes him think he is becoming to much like his father, a man he despises.

Jessie has never seen Nate as more than the wealthy “safe” playboy that he is….in other words she has friend-zoned him. One encounter with Nate in a restroom changes her view of him and soon sparks are flying all over the place. Jessie soon discovers that Nate has his sweet side, but also a darker sexual side that the tattooed Jessie can’t get enough of. The more time these two spend together the hotter they burn….will Nate be able to let go and forget his past to be with Jessie? Or will his past continually pull him under and make him run?

This was my first Christina Lee book and I will definitely read more by her.  Promise Me This had just the right amount of sweet and steam!
