Spellbound by Sylvia Day ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Synopsis:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes a story of the ultimate seduction. . . .

Max Westin. Sex incarnate. She could smell it, feel it with his proximity. Everything about him was a little rough, a little gritty. He was a primitive creature. Just like her.

He held her hand a little too long, his gaze, under thick lashes, clearly stating his intention to have her. To tame her. . . .

"Victoria."

Her name, just one word, but spoken with such possession she could almost feel the collar around her neck.

"It's in your nature," he murmured. "The desire to be taken."

In this game of cat and mouse, everything is an illusion, but the passion is as real as it gets. . . .

Review

Having read and loved the Crossfire Series, I was very excited to read Spellbound. Of course, Spellbound is very different than the Crossfire Series since it is an erotic paranormal romance. Sylvia definitely brought the HEAT to Spellbound like she manages to do in all her books and I enjoyed the originality of the story, but there was just something that I felt was missing and I just can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it was my lack of connection to the characters. Don’t take this the wrong way, because I think paranormal readers will love this one and I did enjoy it, I just didn’t love it. 3.5 stars.

"To submit is not to be weak. You would not be less of a woman, but so much more of one."

Victoria has lost her love to evil and she just can’t get over it. Victoria is headstrong and powerful and has yet to meet another man who can tame her. Enter Max Westin (OMG the man is sex on a stick), the sexy Hunter sent to tame her. As soon as Victoria lays her eyes on Max, her body is ready to surrender to the gorgeous dominant, but Max wants so much more…..can Victoria surrender to Max and let another man in to the heart she closed off long ago?

A simple black ribbon that proclaimed she was owned, loved, looked after, protected.

Like I mentioned above, paranormal lovers will enjoy this one. Spellbound was suspenseful and smoldering hot! I will read anything Sylvia Day writes, no matter what the genre.

5 Stars

All I can say is “Grab this book!” I was thoroughly entertained while reading Charlene’s story. And I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud. Trust me it was many.

Charlene was supposed to be getting married in 3 weeks to her boyfriend of 4 years, Brad. But what does he do?? He breaks it off with her while he’s away in Ireland visiting family during Christmas. Really? What a low-life! A lot is told during this opening chapter of the book and Charlene is heartbroken, devastated & feeling really low. Not to mention, she’s not feeling very good about herself at all. But she has her friends there to help her get through this embarrassing, humiliating “walk of shame”. There’s Vanessa & Dana, her friends since college and then we have Adam. Charlene & Adam have been friends for over 20 years. And I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading about how they met one another back in school.

Adam has always been there for her through everything in her life. He’s funny, honest, has a big heart & would do anything to make his best friend feel better about herself & what life has thrown her way. Oh…and let’s not forget he’s sexy as hell. I loved how Marie Coulson’s words made me feel just what Adam & Charlene have together. I envied the relationship they have. But how doe you go from being best friends for so long to crossing that line. Neither one of them expected things to go this way, but sometimes they happen for a reason. Will their friendship ever be the same? Do these two feel more for each other than just friends and are afraid to admit what is long overdue? This was such a wonderful journey with this group of four friends. Charlene is also a little overweight and lacks self-confidence. It was such a joy to see her pick herself up with the help of these friends in her life & become determined to shed the weight that she had gained over the years. And there are plenty of funny scenes while she attempts it. She also starts to see things about Adam that she hasn't noticed before.

Adam & Charlene aren’t really sure what to do with themselves other than maybe enjoy the “friends with benefits” relationship while she‘s still looking for Mr. Right. At least this is what Charlene tells him. But Adam has been waiting for years to tell her how he really feels & when he does she doesn't know what she should say back. Does distance make the heart yearn for what she has always wanted?

And Charlene’s Gran….I cannot forget to mention this elderly woman with such sass & she doesn't hold anything back in what she thinks. I’m sure you’ll laugh as much as I did when you read the scenes this woman is in. She's a hoot!

Charlene’s ex, Brad, comes back into the picture at the end begging for forgiveness and telling her how sorry he is and that he messed up. Does she go back to him?

At first, reading the title, I wasn't sure what I was going to be in for. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I love her and how she carefully crafted this enjoyable and fun book to read. Everything flowed so nicely, the characters and what they were experiencing seemed real to me. And they are some of the best ones I've been introduced to. I highly recommend this book to read.

Born and bred in Essex, England, Marie Coulson discovered her love of writing in her early teens. Beginning with poetry and song lyrics, she tried her hand at creative writing while studying for her English GCSE. It was love at first line. Unfortunately, Marie's career as a childcare and education practitioner soon took up most of her time and writing became something she only dreamed about. In the summer of 2012 she quit her job and enrolled at university, ready to start a new career as a therapist. This left her with a lot of time on her hands and on August the 20th she sat down and wrote the first chapter of Bound Together. Bound Together was a story that had been waiting three years to be written and when fingers hit the keyboard...Layla, Jared and Ollie's story was born. Marie has since written and released two novels in the Bound Together series and a novella. Her romantic comedy novel Diary Of A Dieter has also received excellent reviews and is the debut novel in  the Confessions series.

Excerpt:
I looked up when a pretty blonde in a short red dress approached our table.

She gave me a coy smile as she leaned down. “I’m Carrie. Want to dance?” she whispered in my ear.

She had the same hair color and a name that started with a C. It was as close to Chloe as I was going to get tonight, so I nodded. I followed her to the dance floor and pulled her tight against me as she started to move to the music. My eyes closed as I felt her ass rubbing against my dick. It had been so long since I’d even thought about sex, and this girl was doing everything right.

I spun her around until she was facing me, and I pulled her tight against me. I let my hands roam until they were cupping her ass. Reaching between us, she grabbed my dick through my pants and moaned. Yeah, this girl knew exactly what she was doing. I was hard as a rock as she moved her hand up and down.

“Want to get out of here?” she asked.

“Fuck yeah.” I leaned down and kissed her.

She took my hand and led me through the crowd and out a back door. She obviously knew her way around this place. Instead of walking toward the street to hail a taxi, she led me farther down the dark alley. Warning bells might have gone off if everything wasn’t so fuzzy in my head. In the dim lighting, she looked just like Chloe. By the time she pushed me up against the wall, I was convinced that she was Chloe.

She unzipped my pants and pushed them down, before sticking her hand inside. When she started stroking me, I moaned.

“God, Chloe. That feels so good.”

“I’m not Chloe. I’m Carrie,” she said in an irritated voice.

“Mmhmm,” I said.

She went to unbutton my shirt. When I felt her tongue flick against one of my nipples, I nearly came in my pants. It had been so long since we’d been together.

“I love you, Chloe, so much.”

Review

4 Stars!

K.A. Robinson has won my heart again. I loved how Tainted wrapped up the Torn series and made me fall in love with Drake and Chloe all over again!

The first part of the book is from Drake's POV during the roughest moments of his life-when he and Chloe aren't together. I love that we got to see what he was going through in life this time since we only knew Chloe's side of things before. He really struggles with his personal demons and I love that we got to see him learn, grow, and fight to be a better person for himself. His dedication to his love to Chloe is awe-inspiring and makes you hope and pray he makes it through his dark times.

The second part of the book picks up where Twisted left off. Chloe and Drake are finally back together, but they have to re-learn what that means and how to let go of the past. While learning how to live together, new demons pop up and make their battle for a healthy relationship even harder.

"If we were together for a thousand years, I would never get used to being with him like this."

^LOVE this quote!!

I love, love, love Drake and Chloe together. Even more, I love how human they are. Their insecurities and struggles are so realistic; your heart hurts for them as they try to figure out how to be there for each other but stay true to themselves. This was a great conclusion to an amazing series. I love how K.A. Robinson wrapped everything up and didn't leave us hangin'! If you haven't read Torn and Twisted, make sure you read those and then finish it up with Tainted-you won't regret it!

Song of the Fireflies by J.A. Redmerski ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Displaying Song-of-the-Fireflies-Blog-Tour.jpg

Synopsis

THE TRUTH WILL SET THEM FREE

Brayelle Bates has always been a force of nature. Even as a child, Bray's wild and carefree spirit intimidated everyone around her. The only person who's ever truly understood her is her best friend, Elias Kline. Though every fiber of her being wants to stay with Elias forever, Bray can't bear the thought of him discovering her agonizing history. She's done everything she can to keep him at arm's length, including moving away. But their undying bond was too strong a pull to deny, and Bray couldn't survive without him. Now she's back home with Elias, and things have never felt more right-until one night changes everything.

Elias vowed never to be separated from Bray again. So when she decides to flee in a desperate attempt to escape her fate, Elias knows he must go with her. As the two try to make the most of their circumstance, taking up with a reckless group of new friends, Elias soon realizes there's a darkness driving Bray he can't ignore. Now in order to save her, he'll have to convince Bray to accept the consequences of their reality-even if it means losing her.

SONG OF THE FIREFLIES Excerpt

It would seem that it was too early for Elias and me to stop being afraid and on edge about what happened. I admit it. But really what we were doing was looking for any way out of that mind-set, because if we didn’t, it would’ve killed us. We just wanted to live life. And, well, it’s easy to forget about the significant things when you find other things to cover it up. Partying quickly became our means of salvation, the way out that we longed for. We learned fast how to replace misery and fear with happiness and enjoyment, and with drugs and alcohol. We couldn’t afford much ourselves, and the last thing we wanted to do was waste what little money we did have on shit like that, but we got by with freebies usually. A joint passed around a room. A group of partygoers already lit on alcohol, offering to buy the table the next round. And occasionally guys would buy me drinks when they thought I was alone.

Our first night hitting the bars and nightclubs in Florida was the first domino to fall in a swirling maze of hundreds of dominoes.

And every fucking one of them would later prove to be a bigger mistake than the last.

“Hey, that’s our song!” I said over the music bumping through the speakers inside the club.

I grabbed Elias by the wrist and tugged. He slid down from the bar stool and hit the dance floor with me. He had always been a hot dancer, and it helped that he had the body for it. But usually, it took a few drinks for him to loosen up enough to dance in public. He wasn’t afraid of it; he just never cared for it much.

Even that started to change with our new lifestyle.

“Since when did this become our song?” he shouted over the music. I danced my way around, putting my back to him, raising my arms up and around both sides of his neck.

He ground his hips against me from behind, his fingers splayed against my thighs.

“Since that time at Matt’s party, remember?”

The beat picked up, and his grinding hips moved with it flawlessly. I about fucking died. The boy could dance.

I danced back around, facing him again, moving my upper body in a lithe, swaying motion against his.

“Oh yeah, I remember that night,” he said, leaning toward my ear. “But if I recall, after we danced to it in front of everyone, you left with Dane Weatherby.”

“Dane was just a friend,” I countered. And he was just a friend. “I was his shoulder to cry on that night. Nothing more. But you and me, we had the whole room. We owned it!”

Elias grinned and fit my hips in the palms of his hands, his long fingers spread like claws as he grinded against me some more.

He was so getting laid tonight.

“I guess we did, huh?” he said with a grin.

Suddenly Elias snatched me forward, his arm around my waist, and pulled me out of the path of a tipsy couple barreling through the crowd.

“Oh, sorry about that, man!” the guy said.

He was as tall as a tree and had short brown hair buzzed around the back. He grabbed hold of a strawberry-blonde woman’s elbow to keep her from falling over. She laughed and fell into his arms on purpose. Her huge boobs bulged into view from the force of his arm, which he held across her chest.

“I think I’ve had too much,” she said, raising her wine cooler out in front of her and then happily taking another drink.

The guy apologized again. And again. I wondered if he was just too drunk to remember he had already gotten that much out of the way.

“It’s all right,” Elias said, still holding me around the waist. “No harm done.”

We started to walk away from the dance floor and back toward the bar, but we only got halfway before the couple came up behind us.

“I’ve never seen you in here before,” the guy said.

“You must come here a lot, then,” I said, still being pulled along by my fingers. “To remember every face in a place this populated.”

A small part of me was worried he’d seen my face on a Most Wanted poster somewhere. But it was just the paranoia kicking in.

“We’re here every weekend,” the girl said.

She never stopped smiling. Neither of them did. They wore permanent, drunken smiles.

We finally made it back to the bar. Elias put his hands on my hips and lifted me onto the stool. He then sat on the empty stool next to me.

“I’m Anthony,” the guy introduced himself. “And this is Cristina.” He smelled of musk cologne.

I started to show them the same courtesy, but Elias jumped in a second before. “I’m John and this is my fiancĂ©e, Julia.”

Fiancée? That certainly got my attention. So much so that I had already forgotten the fake name he gave me.

“You live around here?” Anthony probed. He leaned against the bar next to an empty bar stool rather than sit. Cristina, who I assumed was his girlfriend, continued to use him as her makeshift crutch.

“No, we’re from—”

“—Indiana,” Elias jumped in.

I narrowed my eyes at him secretly from the side.

He softened his baby-blues, as if to say, Sorry, babe.

Instant forgiveness. He was in the right, though, because I had been about to say Georgia, just as I had been a second away from telling them our real names.

I didn’t know if I’d ever get used to this covert lifestyle of lies and highways and shitty motel rooms. But Elias was with me, and that made it all OK.

Stolen Grace by Arianne Richmonde ~ Blog Tour and Giveaway

Synopsis:

A marriage on the rocks.

Their little daughter caught in between.

And a woman who will stop at nothing.

Sylvia and Tommy Garland and their five-year-old daughter Grace have moved from the bright lights of New York City to the peaceful wilderness of the Wyoming countryside. But with the recession on their heels, Tommy leaves for LA for a job interview, and Ruth, an old friend of Sylvia's comes to stay.

In an unexpected turn of events, a family tragedy forces Sylvia to leave Ruth in charge of little Grace for just one day.

A decision that will tear their lives apart.

Stolen Grace is a roller coaster of emotions with twists and turns, a tale of lies and deception, of redemption and forgiveness.

And ultimately, a love story.

Review

This story is very different than a book that I would typically review.  This is exactly why I wanted to review Stolen Grace.  To say I was in a state of burn-out would be an understatement….feeling like I was reading the same story over and over on repeat again.  Would I want to read stories like this every day? No….not because it wasn’t amazing, it was good, but it was also gut-wrenching.  Arianne made me feel so many emotions, and I found myself aching and sobbing for this wounded couple and sharing their grief. 4 stars.

I’m not going to go into the story too much.  You know from the description Grace, their child gets taken.  Unfortunately, at the time all this happens Sylvia and Tommy are having issues in their marriage.  Even with all the betrayal, hurt, and misunderstanding swirling around the relationship, Tommy and Sylvia have to put all this aside and work together as a team to fight to get their child back and ultimately find love again.

Arianne has created a story like nothing I’ve read.  A story about grief, love, redemption….about how a parent will do anything for the love of their child.  If your looking for something different than the typical romance reads out there today, something that will keep you on the edge of you seat and make you feel, give this one a try!

Review

I enjoyed this story, it was cute….no over the top drama, just a nice, sweet, and super sexy read. I loved that it was told from both Tessa and Marcus’s points of views. 4 stars!

“I was content with my whoredom and that I had a new face to wake up to at least three times a week.”

Marcus is a smoking hot underwear model. He is also a manwhore, content with living his life with random hook-ups with different woman. His main problem……hooking up with Riley (his sisters) friends, it’s really starting to peeve Riley off! When Riley reconnects with Tessa, her best-friend from childhood, she warns Marcus to stay away. Tessa has been going through a lot in her life and she has trust issues. But here is the thing, Tessa and Marcus were also friends when they were younger and Marcus really cares about Tessa. Marcus has made it clear that he has feelings for her and wants to take a chance and see where things go between the two of them, no matter what Riley or anyone else thinks. Can Tessa deny the chemistry between her and Marcus? Will she let her past ruin her chance at true happiness with Marcus and will Marcus really change his ways? Read on to find out!

“I can give you what you need. And you….you’re everything I never knew I wanted.”

Like I mentioned above, I enjoyed this story. I loved all the characters, even the secondary ones and would love to see more of Riley and Beck. If your look for a sweet, funny, steamy read you’ll love this one!
