Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…
I am the exception to the rule.
In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.
Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.
I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?
Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?
Whew! A book that starts out and instantly has it's hooks in me......Colton and Rylee meet and sparks are flying all over the place, sexual tension is oozing off the pages, and I was cracking up at the witty banter back and forth between Colton and Rylee! Driven just blew me away! 4.5 stars.
In Driven we meet Colton and Rylee, Colton is a hot sexy, race car driver and Rylee works for Corporate Cares, a foundation that helps orphans. While at a charity event for work Rylee "runs" into Colton backstage and all I'm gonna say is their first meeting was full of passion and also had me laughing out loud! When Rylee decides she wants nothing to do with Colton, he decides the only way he can have her is to force her into a working relationship because he knows she won't turn down anything that will benefit the kids she loves. Rylee's past is full of tragedy and she is letting guilt rule how she lives her life. Colton doesn't do relationships and he is just as complicated and damaged as Riley (although we don't find out exactly what happened to him yet). The temptation between these two becomes too much to resist, even though they both know the relationship is going to end badly. Rylee has to ask herself.......how do you walk away and say no to the one thing your heart wants, even if he doesn't seem to want you the same way you want him? Colton has to ask himself.....is he ready to open up about his dark past, and let it go and let Rylee in and give a relationship a shot, or live without her? K. Bromberg delivers on the angst and heavy emotion......my heart was clenching at the end!
"I need this connection with him like I need sunlight. For when we touch like this, when I feel him like this, I have no doubt that I can do this. That I can be what he needs me to be for however long he'll allow it. For the chance to be with him, to remain under his spell, I will push my needs aside and bury them."
Congrats on a great debut novel K. Bromberg! I definitely recommend this book.......but be warned "Holy Cliffhanger" that gutted me! I am anxiously awaiting the next installment of this series. Driven is captivating, intense, sexy, funny, angsty.......a beautiful, emotional story that had me all over the place!
